Marriage equality is vulnerable under Donald Trumps presidency, says nephew of gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
Stuart Milk warned of dark days ahead due to a rise in anti-gay rhetoric spurred on by the US election of Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who supports gay conversion therapy.
The nephew of Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay person to be elected in public office in California and was assassinated 38 years ago, was speaking exclusively to the Standard on his disappointment that friend Hillary Clinton lost out to Trump.
He said: It was very tough, but having been in central Europe and here when the Brexit vote happened in London, I was not surprised....

Happy Days are Here Again...
I don’t think Trump cares personally one way or another about homosexual marriage, but he has promised to defend religious liberty. This is, for many of his supporters, a crucial promise that I do believe he will keep.
It’s the SCOTUS.
Hysterical idiot.
Likes and opposites are not and can never be equalities.
I doubt Mr Trump cares to invest much time or effort into fighting homosexual “marriage” (sic)
but if he does, FINE FINE FINE!
equal rights, yes.
“marriage”.....impossible
Now there's a relevant opinion.
I only wish that “mirage equality” were under threat, but in these days, I believe that that horse has left the barn. It was a SC decision, the votes of citizens were overturned.
The entire degenerate leftist agenda is vulnerable under Trump.
This is such bullcrap. The fact is gay and homo stuff was the Maytag repairman of this election. Sitting there waiting for the phone to ring, trying to look relevant.
The only mention I heard of it was when Trump said they shouldn’t be gunned down in a nightclub by an islamist and that Hillary took money from nations that throws them off buildings.
The truth is that their hysteria is that nobody is paying any attention to them anymore.
Identity politics is bad. It failed. And we should not support it from one side or the other. If Trump saves a plant we don’t care who works in that plant as long as they are American. Identity politics divide America and distract Americans. We should not give air to people who thrive on the divisions of America.
Good!
Trump told Leslie Stahl that gay marriage is settled law. I don’t expect him to address it.
Frankly, he’s got enough on his plate, so that’s fine with me.
I do hope, however, that he will do what he can to protect religious liberty.
So, not only will trespassers be deported but according to these assclowns that see a black lining around every silver cloud, all glbtq types, non-whites and some saxaphone players will also be deported. Still trying to read into it what these people are reading into the Trump message. Guess my comprehension skills are lacking since I’m deplorable.
Harvey Milk- the flaming homosexual/Pedophile who raped young boys and was later murdered by his homosexual lover- whom the navy honored by naming a destroyer after- this harvey milk?
What, we have some sort of gay dynasty now? How is that possible? Was Stuart Milk molested as a boy or something?
See the 2016 county-by-county election map.
No matter what he does, Trump will never get the packer/muncher vote.
Marriage equality is endangered? Nope, not at all, if anything, it has more of a chance of being safe. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman, not ‘whatever we decide it to mean today.’
It was only endangered with bad SCOTUS and state decisions, most notably Mitt Romney’s refusal to say ‘Since our state supreme court has determined that every marriage is unconstitutional, we no longer recognize, authorize or license marriage in this state and I encourage every step required to restore marriage within Massachusetts.’
