A mob of brazen burglars stole dozens of weapons from a Tampa gun shop Tuesday morning, after breaking in by driving through the front of the store.
Surveillance cameras inside Tampa Arms Co. recorded the crime at about 3 a.m. The video shows a truck driving into the front of the business and, moments later, a swarm of thieves -- wearing masks and dressed alike -- running into the store, stealing about 40 weapons and taking off.
The crime took about 60 seconds.
"It seemed to be well-calculated," said Richard Smith, the store's owner, adding he got a call notifying him of the burglary a couple hours later. "He said that they cleaned you out. So I said that I'm on my way."
Smith said the majority of the weapons he had out were handguns, shotguns and rifles.
"It's very unsettling because we go above and beyond here to make sure that all the guns are in responsible hands," he said. "One gun on the street that's not supposed to be there is just too much, so we feel bad about that. That's our main concern."
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, issued a joint reward of $10,000 for information.
"Anytime that you have any firearms on the street, whether it's one, five, 30 or 50, it is critical to get the firearms off the street," said ATF spokesperson Mary Harmon Salter.
This marks the third large-scale burglary of a gun store in the Tampa Bay area since May; the other two happened in Pasco and Polk counties.

It’s difficult for gun shop owners. I know a few guys who do business behind 4 walls of concrete, but unless you know they’re there, you wouldn’t normally go. Most of their business is online.
The guys who run out of storefronts like this often spend more on security and insurance than inventory. It’s a sad state of affairs.
Outside of hoodies and jeans is there any other description of the perps? Are the Deplorables arming?

No worries. When these new gun owners file their firearm permit requests with the feds, they will get denied, and won’t be able to use them in their crimes. /sar
Considering that most mass shootings (approximately 90%) are committed by Democrats, it’s safe to say that these were Hillary supporters arming up. Trump voters would’ve gone during normal business hours and submitted to a background check...and passed. Majority of Hillary voters can’t pass the check...common knowledge.

Happened at a gun store in Manassas VA about a dozen years ago. Just too easy!
Same thing happened here in Central VA with our largest & most loved sporting goods store...but guess what?
Several years later, they caught all the bad guys, and they are all in jail......
Can’t remember how many of the weapons were recovered.....
Stay put and shoot them when they break in!!!!

Could be. A well-armed night watchman should work also — but probably just too expensive for your typical mom-and-pop store.
(Security companies in my area charge $25.00 per man-hour for armed guards. I think that would figure out to be around $12000 or $13000 per month for coverage every night, plus 24-hour coverage on Sundays and Holidays.)
