President-elect Donald Trump broke bread with a fierce critic and now-possible cabinet pick Mitt Romney Tuesday night at Jean Georges Restaurant in Trump International Hotel.

Trump, joined by his chief of staff designate Reince Priebus, sat with Romney at the fancy French eatery in Columbus Circle.

The meeting took place after a weekend of internal strife in his campaign over whether to hire the former Massachusetts governor as Secretary of State.

I don’t want him there either. That being said, Trump knows how he works and how best to utilize people.

He has been accomplishing tasks for 40 years with good people. He seems to judge people differently than we do, with focus on getting the job done on time and under budget, without a hard core political bias. That of course could work in the business environment. I’m not sure it can here, but I may be surprised.

I honestly don’t know how to judge a guy like Trump, because we have absolutely no one to judge his leadership style by.

If he hires Romney and accomplishes his/our goals with Romney, what do I care?

You know folks, Trump may educate a lot of people who will be working for him. He may educate me.

I think Romney is a terrible choice, but if he hires him and accomplishes his and our goals, I will have to eat my words.

All I can say at this point is, hang on folks, it’s going to be an interesting ride.

If Graham would be replaced by someone better, I concur.

The Romney-Ryan-McConnell triad will blunt him where possible. Then Romney will emerge after 2 years as a candidate for president.

I would prefer ambassador to Andorra. He can eat all the cheese he wants and be far removed to do any harm.

I do hope you’re right. An ambassadorship “might” be a
good move, but Romney is a back stabber and a word flip-flopper. I do not trust him. He wants too much attention and power. He may be a saint in his church, but he’s at the other end of the pole, in my estimation.

I agree with all of you that Romney is not the person to run the State Department, but for the life of me I can’t think of any prominent conservative out there who would be a good choice for that important role as Secretary of State.

Well said, but I still do not want Romney from a human point of view. Romney is a wimp and if Trump can forgive him for his conduct during the campaign, well he certainly must be a Christian.

Don’t know.Maybe Trump just wants a little amusement after a long hard campaign?

"Sundance" (The Conservative Treehouse) tweeted that he thinks Trump is going to appoint Romney as custodian of his business empire.

Which would be perfect.

Hope he's right.

politics aside, Romney makes my skin crawl. There is something just too “slick”. Like an upper east side antiques dealer. I don’t trust him. And that has nothing to do with his politics but his persona

Romney is taking Trump’s bait.....and Trump will drop him like a hot rock....then the Public will do the rest in terms of taking Romney down.

Mitt Romney, at the very least, must apologize for his calumny of Donald Trump.

Indeed, absent such a mea culpa, I can't believe Trump would hire Romney...
