You're allowing hubby out watching the lightning after what happened before? Hmmm....:-)
Well darn! I’ve had the tv on Channel 5 all night to keep an eye on the storms. Had I know that movie was on, I’d have just kept an eye on the radar online and watched the movie instead.
Hubby will stand outside to watch lightning as long as it’s far off. He heads inside long before I do. LOL! I’ll stay out until it’s almost on top of us or until rain runs me inside.
Ooooo....I hope you get lots of nice rain and NO tornadoes! How weird for them to be around this time of the year!
We still haven’t gotten a lot of rain yet but the night’s not over. Still a lot of stuff headed our way.
We’ve been lucky so far with the tornado storms. To moved northward to the west of us and the third is now moving northward on the east side of us. All three within about 10 miles of us. Like I said, we’ve been lucky.
Tornados this time of year are rare but not unheard of. But they’re NEVER good for those who get caught under one.
They just reported that my hometown - 7 miles from here - was hit by one tonight. That’s the first storm that went by. Dang. Guess I’ll see how bad it was when I go to the grocery store tomorrow.
Oh, no! Hope there was no major damage in your hometown by the tornado! They are very scary...especially at night when you can’t SEE the weather patterns for yourself!
I’ve always been terrified of them to the point of having nightmares, but I’ve never seen one in person. I had an uncle that liked to tease me about my fear. i loved him, but really?
I drove through an F0 tornado in New Jersey a few years ago when I went back for a visit. The rain was blinding, and it was scary as hell.
They said a lot of trees are down but I don’t know the exact area that was hit. They just said north Tullahoma. That could be in town or just outside where it isn’t as heavily populated.
Yeah, hitting at night time is scarier because you can’t see what’s coming. We were hit during the day and that was plenty scary. That sucker chased me home and I’d just gotten out of the car in the carport when it hit. I froze and just kept saying, “Oh my God!” over and over again. The carport is on the east side of the house and the wind roared from the west so I stayed dry.
I’ll never forget the sounds as long as I live.
I don’t now how strong it was but I got caught on I-85 just outside Greensboro, NC in a tornado in the mid ‘80s. Like you, I couldn’t see a thing because there was so much rain. Scary when you can’t see where it is but you know it’s close because you can hear it. *shiver*
I’ve heard that it’s a horrible sound...one that you won’t ever forget. I’m glad neither of you were hurt by the ones you were in. *Shiver* is right!
My kids live in Moore, OK...THE tornado ground 0. One night 2 years ago they were surrounded by at least 4 and there was damage done that is still being repaired...and 6 little kids dead in the basement of the local elementary school.
They have a steel safe room bolted to their garage floor. And they’ve been in it many times. I don’t think they’ll miss those!
Hi Luv. Sez here this week that the result was somewhat accurate and appropriate for me ‘specially the part about planning.
You Are Free Wheeling
You are easily awed by the world. There’s so much out there to inspire, delight, and tickle you.
You are deeply grateful and appreciative. You’re thankful for the life you have.
Your thoughts are big and bold. Your mind has no inhibitions.
You don’t like to make plans or predictions. You are sure of yourself but unsure of where life will take you.
It’s a horrible sound but it’s also exhilarating at the same time. I guess it’s the adrenaline rush that makes it so. Maybe one has to really enjoy storms to understand it and I do love storms. My heart’s desire is to go on a run with professional storm chasers out west one day and get up close and personal with tornados like they tend to do. LOL!
I didn’t realize your kids were in Moore. I well remember the tornado hitting that school and killing those poor little kids. No, they won’t miss their safe room and those storms when they move up north.
We just had a nice thunderstorm roll over us with a lot of rain. I hope we get more of those overnight and I reeeeally hope they get it in the mountains. The rain isn’t quite to Gatlinburg yet but it’s close.
You know, sometimes it’s more fun when not all planned out! Don’t you think?
Oh, I hope the clouds don’t run out of water before they get to those fires. That video of the man and his friend escaping on a road where there was fire on both sides and trees falling all around them was just horrific. And it’s happening over and over.
Have there been any more buildings burned in the Gatlinburg area? I’m so glad they were able to remove all the eagles! Thank goodness for PetSmart who gave them those kennels to transport them!
Not planning is like an extra slice of bacon. :-)
It’s also TAKING that extra slice of bacon! LOL!
From the looks of things, they should get a good dose of rain there tonight into the morning. I hope so. They said around 15,000 acres have burned in the Smokies so they can use the rain to help them put those monsters out.
They also said at least 150 buildings had burned but downtown is intact for the most part. Video footage of the destruction was painful to see. All those people who lost everything but the clothes on their backs. Very sad. The mayor said it’s the worst fire in that area in 100 years or more.
The big aquarium and all the critters there is ok and Dollywood was spared as well. It’ll reopen Friday. I don’t know when they’ll move all the eagles back but I assume they’ll do it asap. It’ll depend on if the smoke has cleared out, I’d think.
Keeping all those people in my prayers as well as all the firefighters. They have crews from all across the state helping and some from out of state too. Three crews from AK have been down here for a week or more helping out where needed and they’re in the Gatlinburg area now.
What a nightmare to have to live through. Those folks are going to need everything. I hope there have been no injuries or deaths!
Yes, they’ll need to replace everything plus find somewhere to live. And those whose businesses burned have that to deal with too.
Sadly, they’ve reported 3 dead. :-( There are also several in hospitals who suffered burns.
Have you been watching our young owls tonight? Beau just took his first flight a couple of minutes ago and Iggy FINALLY came out on the porch.
You Are Quirky |
You are entertaining and a total charmer. You know how to liven up a group of friends. You respect the earth and truly love nature. You wish that everyone was able to live in harmony. People are frustrated by your great potential, but you love your unconventional life. You aren't going to change to make others happy. And there ya are! Oh.....and that is an actual sign here because we love our troops! |
