I was on a group tour including people from both coasts about 6 weeks before the election. They were of course all libs and because I had no desire to engage in their political conversations, one of them actually smirked at lunch one day and said, “Isn’t it funny how everybody on this trip is a Democrat?”
That’s how they live their lives, assuming the trip was an extension of their “circle”.

That must have been excruciating! You have my sympathy for having been subjected to such torture, but also my kudos for being strong enough to endure it.
Funny you mention that. Last week my oldest boy is in the Marine Corps based out in CA,a nd got leave for the first time since being there.
He met a girl, a young woman who attends college. He said he asked if she wanted to meet up later for dinner, a bit like a date.
She said yes, and they met.
He said within the first half hour she brought up politics , and her liberal views. He told me he quickly left without being rude,and she wanted to drive him back to base, to which he declined. She texted him later that night asking if they could meet, and he never did.
The young woman he said was good looking, but could never go with someone who is way out there, and feels she has to push her political views on the first date.
I told him that the problem is that she was born out there, she was raised out there, she goes to college out there, and so she thinks everyone is like her and her friends she grew up with.
I asked him if he tried to correct her as apparently she was coming out with all sorts of fake facts, to which he told me what was the point , she was so far gone that she could never understand anything outside her realm of life.
