The organization that lays wreaths at the graves of fallen veterans has only half the wreaths it needs to ensure one is placed at every grave in Arlington National Cemetery.
Wreaths Across America has collected sponsorships for about 126,800 wreaths as of Tuesday, but it needs 245,000 to cover every grave at Arlington. As a result, the organization is extending the deadline to sponsor a wreath for Arlington until Dec. 14, when the last truck filled with wreaths leaves Maine bound for Washington, according to a spokeswoman.
Wayne Hanson, the Wreaths Across America chairman of the board and location director for Arlington National Cemetery, said this is the 25th year the group has placed wreaths at the cemetery, and that it is personal for him when a headstone is left bare.
"Last year at this time we were still short, but not by quite as many. I think a lot of people drive by the cemetery in December and see all those wreaths and unfortunately people still believe that the government does that like they do the flags on Memorial Day," Hanson told the Washington Examiner.

Yet Jill Stein has more money than she needs for the silly recounts.
The government wastes trillions but can’t do anything for it’s vets.
Send this to Trump...That’ll take care of it.
Our Trail Life USA Troop participated this year selling wreaths. We’re not going to Arlington though. We’ll be placing wreaths at a national cemetery in Baltimore.
Thanks for posting that - I donated for a friend who doesn’t want more “stuff” for a gift.
Already purchased 10 wreaths for Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
I do every year.
why is it up to Trump to solve every problem?
126,000 wreaths? 126,000 Americans need to step up
I just donated wreaths in honor of all the WWII deceased vets in my family.

It’s our duty, and honor, as citizens who’ve benefited from the lives our vets gave, to pay for and place the wreaths on their graves. I count myself blessed to live close enough to ANC that I can participate in the placement of the wreaths.
I agree. It would be nice to see Trump call on Americans to pitch in, though.
I could see Trump, Gary Sinise and some other celebs picking up a good share of the load and inspiring others to join in
I will probably be there
It sounds like a worthy cause, but I have to ask , where is all the money going? $15 is an awlful lot per wreath when you buy wholesale by the hundreds of thousands.
WAA says on their website that they return $5 of every $15 to fund-raising groups. They also do education and outreach.
Charity Navigator does not rate them, because WAA does not receive most its money from individuals, but from the gov’t or program services, according to CN.
My grandparents and uncle are buried at Arlington, and I support a wreath-laying charity in theory.
This is post Trump election prep for all the endless reports of the...
1. homeless
2. budget cuts
3. deportations
4. wife beatings
5. wretched excesses of “winners of life’s lottery”
Me too. I was going to do my father but then thought of my uncles and my in-laws.
All four of my grandparents are at Arlington. Born between 1886 and 1891.
Should You Donate to Wreaths Across America? A Lesson in Charitable Giving
According to its website, Wreaths Across America was founded in 2007 by the Worcester family. The patriarch, Morrill Worcester, is president of Worcester Wreaths, a for-profit wreath-making company. His wife, Karen Worcester, is the executive director of the nonprofit Wreaths Across America.
Every wreath used by Wreaths Across America is purchased with donated money from the for-profit company that started it, Worcester Wreath.

Scandalous.
Does every grave at Arlington where a wreath is placed include the graves of the Confederate soldiers buried there?
