Why Kellyanne Conway hates Mitt Romney
The Washington Post ^

Posted on 11/29/2016 9:00:07 AM PST by detective

Kellyanne Conway made one thing very clear in her Sunday interview with “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd: She’s not a fan of Mitt Romney. Like, at all.

Here’s how she responded to Todd’s question about her feelings about the 2012 Republican presidential nominee:

People feel betrayed to think that Governor Romney, who went out of his way to question the character and the intellect and the integrity of Donald Trump, now our president-elect, would be given the most significant Cabinet post of all, secretary of state. And that is a decision that only one man can make, President-elect Donald Trump. I will respect it, and I will support it 1,000 percent. But I’m reflecting what the grass roots are saying

They feel a bit betrayed that you can get a Romney back in there after everything he did. We don’t even know if he voted for Donald Trump. He and his consultants were nothing but awful to Donald Trump for a year.

Who is more likely to be right about an appointee: President Trump or Ms. Conway?

Who is more likely to be right about the feelings of the American people: President Trump or Ms. Conway?

“If President Trump appoints him, then Mr. Romney is ipso facto the best man for the job. Who is more likely to be right about an appointee: President Trump or Ms. Conway?”

Sometimes, when your boss is about to do something really stupid, you have to show him the error of his ways.

Kellyann is doing the right thing.

Romney would be a disaster.

Way back when, all of the people attacking Palin in the ugliest fashion - when they were Repubs - all turned out to be Romniacs.

After assuring us during his campaign for president that he was for securing the border and deporting criminal aliens, this time out he attacked anyone who was for securing the border and deporting criminal aliens.

If we thought the attacks on Palin were an anomaly, we find him attacking Trump in much the same fashion this time. I can think of good things to say about Romney as technocrat if pressed but he is not on our side, and he is not loyal to anyone but Romney. He is not a fighter, he is not a leader, he is not big on national sovereignty, and he not much for bold visions.

I think I can see what Trump may see in choosing him, but I don’t like it and I don’t agree.

I really see nothing in have Romney as SOS. Patraeus for one, has a vast more in accomplishments and background for the job.

Then again, I wonder what Kellyanne would say if Trump were to interview Kasich for the job.

Actually, I hear Kasich is being considered for post master general.

The one funny thing is the tape the media keep playing of Romney going after Trump. It sounds like it is from a comedy - Mitt’s speech is so funny and stilted.

There is an opinion column at the American Thinker that addresses a scenario that says TRUMP wants the State Department OVERHAULED, which is Romney’s forte.

Romney repaired the Olympics on a shoestring and overhauled Bain Capital... I know I probably spelled that wrong, but you see where this is going.

The writer suggests that TRUMP will run foreign policy from the White House along with certain of his cabinet members.

He speaks of John Bolton as possibly too cozy with members at the State Department to really be able to make deep enough cuts and to do serious restructuring and closing down whole departments, and further says that the State Dept is full of Arabs. Yes, he says THAT. Wow.

If plausible, then TRUMP puts in the best restructuring and gutting man for that job, but does not give Romney run-amok reins to go rogue internationally, nor any opportunity to outflank TRUMP’s White House on policy, either foreign or domestic.

Writer suggests Bolton can be called in by Romney or the White House to bring his own expertise to the table.

Just sayin’.

Kellyanne understands as so many of us patriots do that the Mitt Romney who ran for president was an adult, tough but a gentleman and above reproach OR so we thought.

When Mitt finished vilifying Trump during the campaign, I for one was astonished at how abusive, denigrating his language was...who was this man? To drain the swamp, all GOP elites must go, especially Mitt Romney one of the most elite...as it turns out. Perhaps this is some of what Kellyanne understands and is so concerned about....I know I am.

Romney is the best man for the job and he probably should get it.

It's pretty obvious that Trump is going to use the Obama - Clinton model where one puts ones enemy into ceremonial and bureaucratic Sec of State position while running foreign policy directly from the White House via personal envoys

Trump would be giving Romney the thankless and unpopular job of draining the Swamp at State while all real diplomacy ran through the White House.

“TRUMP wants the State Department OVERHAULED, which is Romney’s forte.”

Interesting. Every Department needs to overhauled or scrapped all together.

Trump needs an independent bulldozer team to get that herculean task done.

I would not appoint romney to anything, ever...

Mittens and his staff would be stabbing Trump in the back whenever the opportunity arose, if Mittens was SoS. Just like Colon Powell and Richard Armitage did to Schrub.
