The Somali-born student, who injured 11 people in a car-and-knife attack at Ohio State University before being shot and killed, had lived in Pakistan along with his family for about seven years.
The 18-year-old attacker, identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident, NBC News quoted law enforcement officials as saying.
He temporarily lived in Dallas before settling in Ohio.
He rammed his car into a crowd at Ohio State University on Monday and attacked them with a butcher knife, injuring 11 before police fatally shot him.
Investigators are investigating whether the attack was an act of terror by Artan, who had once criticised the media for its portrayal of Muslims.
In a magazine in August, he was quoted as saying that he is scared to pray in the public because of media coverage of the religion.
"I'm a Muslim, it's not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don't know what they're going to think, what's going to happen. But, I don't blame them. It's the media that put that picture in their heads," Artan had aid.
He also appears to have made an anti-US posting on Facebook minutes before the attack, on a page that was quickly disabled or taken down by authorities, US media said.
"I can't take it any more. America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially the Muslim Ummah. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that," the post quoted by ABC television said.
"If you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace," the post reads. "We will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Muslims."
Officials said 11 people were being treated at local hospitals for stabbing wounds and injuries from the motor vehicle. None of their injuries were life-threatening.
Curious if this terrorist was on welfare
None of their injuries were life threatening?
One was hospitalized in critical condition. And how was this guy 18???
Is a “legal permanent resident” the same as a US Citizen?
Pock-e-stahn?................
>”If you want us Muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace,”
Prepare to eat lead.
If you look at his picture....I’d put him in late 20s.
I agree. He looks considerably older than 18.
Scholarship, I'd bet.
But if I mow people down with my car then hack away at the helpless victims, then I will be what the media portrays me to be?
When Trump takes office his first action should be an executive order stopping all Muslim immigration. Or at the very least all immigration from Islamic terrorist supporting regions.
They are forbidden to give peace to infidels. They can't even live in peace among themselves. They are incompatible with infidels. Get them out of our country. This compassionate experiment has zero chance of success.
So, Obama & Co. dragged this kid and his family out of a Pakistani refugee camp, and then made them legal permanent residents in less than two years?
People should be swinging from lampposts for this!
Obama was in Pakistan when it was ILLEGAL to travel there as an American before running for Office, I wonder if they were buddies?
“I’m not a real 18 year old student, I just play one on Jihaad.”
The profile sounds similar to a certain mischevious poster on vikingkitties.blogspot who lived in Pakistan before emigrating here with his family to California. I should speak to him in Urdu and see if he responds...
: )
They’re all on welfare. Refugees get special welfare status.
“Is a legal permanent resident the same as a US Citizen?”
No.
“...lived in Pakistan along with his family for about seven years...”
“...temporarily lived in Dallas before settling in Ohio.”
HE LIVES PERMANENTLY IN HELL NOW.
