President-elect Donald Trump on Friday named a libertarian election lawyer as his White House counsel and a hard-line former Reagan administration official to a top post on his national security staff.

Trump announced that Donald McGahn, a controversial former member of the Federal Election Commission who had served as Trump's campaign lawyer, will be his White House counsel.

(snip)

For deputy national security adviser, Trump chose Kathleen "KT" McFarland, who in her most recent role as a Fox News analyst has expressed strident opposition to many of President Obama's national security policies.

Sound like good choices, though I must say that I'll miss hearing KT on WMAL's morning show.

A news person has no business in the national security shop, unless it is in a press secretary/public affairs role.

“McGahn owns 30 guitars and plays a Gibson Les Paul bass in Scott’s New Band, an ‘80s cover band that performs in Ocean City, Maryland”
Wiki.

Defended DeLay- that speaks highly for him IMO.

Actually, she used to be in the Nixon, Ford, and Reagan Administrations.

She has appeared on FNC but she is not a news person. She goes back to the Ford admin.

I found this on Wikipedia

She served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs under President Ronald Reagan from 1982 to 1985, and senior speechwriter to and principal deputy assistant secretary of defense Pentagon spokesman under Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger.

In 1985, she received the Defense Department's highest civilian award, the Defense Distinguished Service Medal.

Wikipedia Link to KT

Well, she was a member of the Security Council for 3 presidents...Hopefully she is untarnished by her recent media involvement...

A news person has no business in the national security shop,

Why? We have national security staff in the news business.

Why couldn't Trump do like Obama and pick someone with a criminal history ?

Read KT McFarland's bio. She is recently "a news person." She was part of the National Security Council under Henry Kissinger in the Nixon Administration, was Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs under Reagan.

and a hard-line former Reagan administration official to a top post on his national security staff.

According to the MSM, all Trump's appointees will either "hard line" or "far right".

Good to read that his pick for White House Council, Donald McGahn, has been part of his campaign.

He’ll be busy with this BS recount business.

She better not be another “Neocon”.

Her Fox News talking head role doesn’t impress me either.

Fox News is the Republican Establishment ‘network of record’.

Some Fox News hosts, talking heads are better than others like Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, but most are GOPe, Rockefeller, New York, Liberal Republicans posturing as ‘conservatives’ and being packaged as ‘conservatives’ when they are not.....
