Prior to todays Lions-Vikings Thanksgiving Day contest at Ford Field, Aretha Franklin belted out what may very well be the longest rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Ever!

I would not wish to watch this. I love Aretha Franklin, but there is no way in hell I would listen to an endless Anthem.
Sing it quick and get out of the way!!
It can’t be nearly as long as Bleeding Gums Murphy’s version

If I’m going to listen to a long version of a song, the National Anthem is fine with me.
LOL, I see from the Comments that I wasn’t the only one who thought of this.
Agreed. I heard it as I passed the TV and found it bordering on insulting. I had to ask if it was the Star Spangled Banner. Horrible performance, and I rather dislike departures from the original, myself
I’m taking a brief break from my NFL boycott to watch the NFC North first-place Lions play the 2nd place Vikings.
I missed Aretha, but I liked the fact that the halftime show featured the Lions’ new babe-a-liscious cheerleaders! (Yeah, and some Andy Grammar singer guy... who cares....at least he wasn’t vulgar....)
I can’t stand deviation from the original. “
I agree. I can’t stand those “customized” renditions of the Star Spangled Banner. All those “look at mes”
Detroit is where it all started with Jose Feliciano during the 68 World Series.
Getting old sucks
no point in continuing to interpret it after Hendrix’s definitive performance. Just replay the tape.
Hey Nineteen, that’s ‘Retha Franklin...
I liked the halftime show. Usually I find something else to do.
So long and disjointed you have to take a knee
...her voice is not what it was....she was “off” key quite a bit, maybe next time she could hold up cue cards.
..sing any version you want as long as you want—Trump STILL wins Michigan...
Couldn't agree more. It's not THEIR song or THEIR rendition. It's the National Anthem, period. Sing it the way it was written. It's not about YOU.
Best comment: That was longer than the Vikings’ Time of Possession in the first half.
