As someone who studied hard for his Amateur Radio Licenses and makes contact all over the world, I'd support a significant reform of the FCC but its abolishment? No way. the Amateur Radio bands are dangerously close to becoming "CB" already, take away the FCC and the minimal enforcement they do and I may as well take my tower and antenna's down and leave them down.......

I would agree with you that the FCC has done more to damage consumer rights & freedoms and the internet as a hole under Obama and all of that needs to be completely undone.

People aren't advocating no frequency enforcement. We are advocating axing the FCC and then creating a streamlined agency for frequency maintenance ONLY.

You maybe right about this area but most of what the FCC does is simply an exercise in busybodiedness

I disagree OM. Hams have been self-regulating for decades and its only after the current lawyer-dominated FCC took over that things went downhill. We DO need the Enforcement Division! But staffed with guys like Riley, not some bimbo fresh out of law school looking to get her ticket punched and on to the next gummint job. We darn near lost the HF bands due to BPL, which was politically pushed by FCC. The same dolts who forced “HD radio”onto the market with just one crony outfit controlling the technology, and on and on.

CB? You know, with bigger fish to fry I’d open it up as a “free radio” band and let ‘er rip, let ‘em play music, broadcast, work skip, whatever. Then enforce the hell out of part 97 on the ham bands. If the miscreants would congregate there instead of 75 meters it would do everyone a big favor, and could be entertaining now that there’s not much to listen to on shortwave.
