Since at least 2013 through today she is a Board Member of an organization dedicated to implementing Common Core.
One doesnt sit for three and a half years on the Board of an organization whose sole purpose is implementation of Common Core if one doesnt support Common Core.

Boy, you’re right about that. Some politicians would want to get in front of a runaway train if someone told them it was the right thing to do. In business too, the name of the game is to jump quick, make sure you get credit, and then move on before any accountability for results can settle in on you.
I do hope she opens up Education to CHOICE, COMPETITION and breaks the power of bureaus..
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
What she really needs to break is the power of teachers unions.
“Q: Theres been a lot of talk about Common Core. Can you provide some straight talk on this topic?
Certainly. I am not a supporterperiod.”
Which part of that succinct answer confused you?
She later elaborated, “Have organizations that I have been a part of supported Common Core? Of course. But thats not my position.”
Then rounded out her statement with a quip just exactly tailored for you, “Sometimes its not just students who need to do their homework.”
DeVos is being dishonest. She was not some anonymous member of an organization that happened to support Common Core, she sat for three and a half years on the Board of an organization whose sole purpose is implementation of Common Core. She is still on that Board today.
She said she did not support common core.
See post 21. She’s lying.
OK. But the soap was a good value. The marketing/dinners at “friends” homes in the 70s was a good way to cement, or end a friendshipl
>>Certainly. I am not a supporterperiod.

Thanks BFAC. This needed to get out. I’ve heard a lot of rumors about DoVos and common core.
Wow...is that all you got from the news snippet?
Her entire background is vouchers, home school protection ,to dismantle the National Department of Education and rid us of Common Core.....
Yet you still gripe.....go figure....
My wife and I (seriously mostly my wife) have put three millennials through public school. The vast majority of educators are passionate and care about educating children. But, at the end of the day there is no one who cares more about educating your child than YOU!
Parents will always need to take an active role in the education of their children in order to get the most out of any system of education.
Evidence please. I'm not trying to be a jerk but I really don't know anything about DeVos.
Where does she stand on phonics, on traditional arithmetic, on learning the literature of the West, science on a classical approach supplemented by electives in late middle school high school on the technical.
Common core curriculum and content deprive our children of their very souls and a developed intellect with age inappropriate content and methodology.
The reply of the thread!
Exactly.
And sometimes the people being snowed should have known in real time.
I’ve seen it myself.
Trump hits another one out of the park.
If you’re getting flack it means you’re over the target.
I agree with your thoughts.
It isn’t easy for parents either.
Many teachers simply won’t call you unless there’s a well established crisis in the works.
