As additional votes have been counted in the presidential election, especially on the West Coast, Hillary Clinton's national popular-vote lead over Donald Trump now exceeds 2 million votes, according to an ongoing tally by the Cook Political Report's David Wasserman.
Hillary Clinton's vote total is 64,223,986 (48.1% of the vote), while Trump's is 62,206,395 (46.6%) - a difference of 2,017,591 votes (1.5%).
To put that popular-vote margin into perspective, Al Gore's popular-vote lead over George W. Bush in 2000 - when Bush won the Electoral College - was 547,000 votes. Also noteworthy: Clinton's 64-plus million votes is nearing in on the 65.9 million Barack Obama won in 2012.
Of course, presidents are elected by the Electoral College, not the popular vote, and what sunk Clinton's campaign was her performance in the key battleground states, particularly in the Midwest. And by Wasserman's count, Trump beat Clinton in 13 key swing states by a 48.5%-to-46.6% margin. In the non-swing states, though, Clinton is ahead of Trump 48.9%-to-45.6%.
This is nothing but idle musing ... designed solely to change our country from a Republic to a Democratic (Socialist) state ... without having to amend the Constitution (e.g., by have an activist judge declare the EC vote invalid on the basis of “fairness” or, more likely, by encouraging the states to pass laws to have their EC members vote according to the national result rather than the state’s result.)
make it 1 billion for all I care. Just STFU and keep crying you lib p*ssies
So NY and CA/IL voted 80% for Harpy. It is an election of all the states not just the big 3.
Pray America woke
This makes the victory all the sweeter
Well whattyaknow.
To quote Hillary: “What difference at this point, what difference does it make?”
Its bad enough CA decides the election for states like OR.
Yankees score 55 runs
Pirates score 27 runs
Yankees win 3 games
Pirates win 4 games
Pirates are the champions.
And Republicans had better things to do with their time than stand in line for hours to vote.
It won't be peaceful. I think the inauguration ceremony should be held away from the protesters, to shield Trump from the assassin's bullet. Soros's zombies will be out in force that day. The left is insane with rage and they won't be mollified.
I know early voting started 2 months early, when does late voting end?
Print out all the votes you want, Hillary. All the ones that mattered have been counted.
This to me is like a football team that has more yards of total offense expecting to be given the win even though the other team scored more points.
exactly that.
I didn’t realize voting was still going on somewhere ...
Hillary thought her campaign war chest, her allies in the media, and Obama’s support would make the race a cake walk. But then Bernie happened. He stuck around much longer than expected and caused her to expend money and energy to defeat him. And then Trump’s brand of populism caught on and suddenly her comfortable lead evaporated. Again, this caused her to expend more money and energy. She didn’t run out of money but she ran out of energy and failed to make visits to key states in the end. She flat out lost because she was too complacent and underestimated the effort required to win.
Given the populous states of California and New York, winning the popular vote was never really in question. Trump was never going to bring in more votes than she did. He did, however, capture the states he needed to win. That’s how the game is played.
The team that brings in the most fans doesn’t win. The team that puts the most points on the board does.
She was “studying” (the leaked questions) for the debates. That’s what she said!
I love tweaking my libtard friends when they harp on this. I’m like, “Wow, hard to believe that all of those Harvard grads working for Hillary didn’t know that the election is not decided in California, but in the battleground states. Not smart!”
I’m talking about this recount trouble that hillary put stein up to, probably for a huge amount of cash.
Yup.
The EC makes many more states and voters relevant and integral and vital to the presidential election process. The liberals always say they want as many people involved and to have their voices heard. The EC process does this so much better than a popular vote.
But since they lost then its the system’s fault and the rules must be changed. When they lose again they will again demand rules be changed. Rules they were fine with when they won under them.
Why were they not changing the rules after obamas wind inm08 and 12? They had 8 years to push a change through if it was this serious an issue.
