German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday she would seek a fourth term in elections next year to defend democratic principles, but that she expected her toughest campaign to date.
Merkel told reporters at a meeting of her Christian Democratic Union party that she would run again to fight for our values and our way of life, but added that she expected strong challenges from both the right and the left of the political spectrum. [ ]
Citing the uncertainties created by the British vote to leave the European Union and the election of Donald Trump as US president, she said she understood the world was looking to her as a source of stability.

Go away, hag! You’ve ruined Germany enough already.
Germany is facing in their next election the demise of their country. Just like the US. We overcame everything including voter fraud. I hope they can, too.
Better get more muzzies voters in fast!
She’s shown her true colors - - Germans should toss her out of office.
Fixed it for ya!
Is she on crack or something? The woman is delusional!
Would that include letting in 1 MM + Muslims unilaterally without consulting the German people and violating EU rules and regulations?
Ironically, those “EU rules and regulations” were established in a unilateral dictatorial manner. Kind of like her unilateral decision to “sublimate” them.
They shouldn’t allow four terms.
To complete moslem takeover
The reality is that the Germans are so stupid they will vote for her en mass. If you doubt me you can call my ex-wife and ask her!
The phrase “democratic principles” is here used to mean their exact opposite.
A majority of German men sit to pee.
Now, this may be due to the unique design of German toilets, but it aligns with the other evidence.
There are roughly five political parties in Germany. The vote elects the party and the head of the party gets to serve. Merkel’s CDU is the largest party. The next largest is the SDU. Because no party has a majority they have to form a coalition. A coalition government would be as if the Democrats and the Republicans had to hash out every issue from the party’s perspective. Both the top parties are still pro-immigration. But each party has a platform of about 30 items for which it stands and fights. The top two parties have ruled for a long time. This means the majority of Germans are members of those two parties.
The only anti-immigration party is the AFD. They comprise about 11-19% of the vote depending on what area is being considered. They have no nationally known candidates. For them to win they would need to have a very large number of crossover votes. That would be like a lifetime Democrat voting for Trump. But they don’t have a Trump on the horizon.
If they did place above the SDU nationally then the CDU would be forced to cobble together a coalition with yet a third party to exclude the AFD or they would need to form a coalition with the AFD. Policy-wise that would be like combining fire and water. There isn’t a lot of room for compromise if the AFD’s mandate is to stop or reverse immigration. Also there are the other 29 issues on the AFD’s platform. Those would have to take from the CDU and SDU platform to attract those down-ballot issue voters. This is sort of like the Republicans adopting a few points from the Communist Manifesto.
I don’t see the 2017 election as reversing immigration.
It’s sad but illuminating to have a cursory conversation with the average German citizen. I’m surprised that the muzzies haven’t overrun Berlin yet!
The French will go for Le Pen and Spain will revert to long before Germans give AfD a significant presence in the Bundestag.
The post-WW II propaganda campaign to inoculate Germany against even the slightest bit of nationalist sentiment has worked too well. The cultural survival instinct has been shamed out of them too. They will eventually resist, but by then it will be too late.
One of the top remaining “We the People” revolution agenda items:
Toss merkel curbside.
My brother describes them as "inspecto stools" for obvious reasons. Their TP is also akin to grey cardboard with splinters. Second only to Swiss in quality.
