Russia quits Hague Court
Arutz Sheva ^ | 21/11/16 | Chana Roberts

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a directive on Wednesday to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague. The ICC is meant to be the world's first permanent court and works to prosecute leaders and countries for war crimes, genocide and "crimes against humanity."

In 2000, Russia signed the Rome treaty establishing the ICC, but never ratified it. The ICC was established in 1998, and currently has over 100 member states.

Like Russia, the US also signed the treaty but declared in 2002 that they had "no intention" of ratifying it.

Last Tuesday, the UN General Assembly's Human Rights Committee approved a resolution condemning Russia's "occupation" of Crimea and Sevastopol, and blamed Russia for discrimination against Crimean residents, as well as rights abuses.

Last Monday, the ICC issued a preliminary report describing the events in Crimea as "an international armed conflict between the Ukraine and the Russian Federation."

Russia is also under continuous threat of sanctions and being sued in the ICC, since they are carrying out airstrikes to help Syrian nationals fight ISIS.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia's withdrawal is an issue of "national interests" and explained Putin's decree as a mere formality, since the agreement was never ratified in the first place. He also said Crimea was not occupied but had joined Russia in March 2014 after a legitimate popular vote.

Though Russia does want international crimes dealt with in the ICC, the country is becoming increasingly frustrated with the ICC's ineffectiveness....

The ICC is horrid.

You can be charged with ‘X’ and prepare your case.

When your trial date arrives your case ‘X’ is not on the docket but you now have been charged ‘Y’ and ‘Z’.

You are not allowed to change the trial date, gather any other supporting documents or witnesses. Your trial is NOW and you are screwed.

It’s a circus.

"the number of ethnic Russians in the Ukraine are part of the issue as well."

Don't forget this is part and parcel of the problem - in the last century, Russians weren't just encouraged to move there, they were told to move there (preview of what was to come here with Mexico). Russia's continuous Cossack vs. Polonisation cannot be rewarded, and Russia is going to have to undo some of that damage in a future Donbass-Crimea Treaty.

I’m thinking President Trump and President Putin should make a joint appearance announcing our respective countries’ simultaneous withdrawal from the UN and its pending move to Caracas or Havana...

Neither Caracas nor Havana posses the luxury hotels, restaurants, bars or courtesans required to satiate the lusts of the UN delegates.

Only a European capital will suffice

They do so have courtesans in Havana, and they’ve eradicated syphillis there, so if you catch it, they won’t treat it.

I wish journalists would figure this out.

There is *no* city in the Netherlands named “Hague”.

There *is* a city in the Netherlands named “The Hague” (Den Haag).

There is also La Hague, France (Which technically is also “The Hague” (La Haye)).

There are places in the US and Canada named “Hauge”.

Hague, Florida
Hague, New York
Hague, North Dakota
Hague, Virginia
Hague, Saskatchewan, Canada

But there is *no* city in the US or Canada named “The Hague”.

The root of the problem is the socialist politicians in Germany and France.

They have caused nearly ALL the problems in Europe for the last 1000 years.

Now Germany and France are being taken over by the mooslims thanks to the socialist politicians.

Europe as we’ve known it will be dead within twenty years.

The Russian areas of the Ukraine where never inhabitanted by Ukrainians. Those areas where added to the state to make sure Russians where always the majority in the Ukraine.

The proper solution is partition along ethic lines, which the Russians have largely done.

Russian affairs are just that. The former Soviet Union was made up of all the territories that are in dispute, so let the good folks in that region decide their fate and if Vladmir or his successor decides to expand their sphere ,then it would be time for The Europeans to step up and do something for a change. As long as our Strategic interests are not threatened , we should see what Europe does.

Hitler used the same kind of logic. The German occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938–1945) began with the Nazi annexation of Czechoslovakia's northern and western border regions, formerly being part of German-Austria known collectively as the Sudetenland, under terms outlined by the Munich Agreement. German leader Adolf Hitler's pretext for this action was the alleged privations suffered by the ethnic German population living in those regions.

Agreed, but I think the world’s despots, vampiric bureaucrats and others from the bar scene in Star Wars would feel much more at home in Caracas or Havana...

The War Crimes Court is beyond a US President’s control because its a UN thing and the UN will be putting up a firewall against Trump, so the Russians needed to cover themselves.

But Trump can pull back from doing the Saudis and Qataris bidding in Syria and he needs to change policy there and I think you and I expect him to do that.

Definition of non sequitur. 1: an inference that does not follow from the premises; specifically : a fallacy resulting from a simple conversion of a universal affirmative proposition or from the transposition of a condition and its consequent. 2: a statement (as a response) that does not follow logically from or is not clearly related to anything previously said

Ukraine is an issue for Europe and they need to own it, lock, stock and barrel.

Since our election, EU leaders have been expressing a newfound desire to go it alone, without the aid of the racist and intolerant America.

I say have at it ladies and gentlemen.

Have at it.
