'I Have To Text My rapist': Victims Forced To Parent With Attackers By Thom Patterson, CNN November 18, 2016

That's how an 18-year-old Noemi felt when she learned that she had no choice but to hand over her baby daughter to the man convicted of assaulting her.

Noemi's child was conceived in the assault, and Nebraska's laws on parental rights forced her to agree to court-sanctioned visits between her daughter and her attacker.

Noemi with her daughter, who was born after Noemi was raped. Noemi with her daughter, who was born after Noemi was raped. For Noemi, who asked CNN to protect her privacy by not using her last name, it amounts to putting the most cherished part of her life in harm's way.

Her biggest fear is that her child will "get hurt or something bad will happen to her," Noemi told CNN's Lisa Ling. "I can't tell what he will do to my daughter."

Noemi's story isn't unusual. Across America, there are state laws that don't protect women who became pregnant through rape from being forced to share their children with their rapists.

And on second thought: the “rapist” was a coworker but Noemi didn’t name him until she wanted child support. This suggests that she didn’t go to the police at the time of the sexual encounter, and indeed didn’t go until after the child was born, at which point she was seeking child support. Nor does the story make clear whether she sought child support before or after the father demanded visitation rights. Something does not add up here.

Not clear that the Dad of this baby is guilty of what Whoopi would call “rape rape”. Every child needs, and is legally entitled to, his or her father.

A man has parental rights... that’s reality - and if he forced a woman to bear his child, he should be responsible for it.

Those rights are often predicated on providing child support - couldn't find it in the story...

Rapists should be executed.

Real rapists should be executed, women who LIE ABOUT RAPE should spend many, many years in prison.

You have to read between the lines - but when she claims she “had no idea what sex really was” the picture becomes clear. In 2011 she would have been 13!

Years ago a friend was “date-raped” while in college and ended up pregnant as a result. Her and her parents talked to lawyers and law enforcement about prosecuting and were told that it would almost impossible to get a conviction AND the likely end result was that the rapist would get child visitation. She did NOT want that, especially if it was a daughter, so they never pursued charges or child support.

She kept her baby, who was later adopted by her husband when she got married several years later.

This event went a long way in forming my pro-life opinions about rape and abortion.

Unless a man is married to the woman he has no claim or responsibility to a child.

If one is married, all of the children of the legal agreement belong to both, bio or not.

This is not foolproof but our forefathers had wisdom that this would be the least painful method of assigning paternity and responsibility. Scenarios such as described would never occur.

Of course in our forefather’s day, the rapist would be dead.

I have to think the rapist was Islamic because otherwise the courts would demand that the female get an abortion— no questions asked—she’s over age 16 so no parental consent necessary. Less likely scenario would be that the court would order an adoption

_____________

I am not aware of any US court that demands abortion

” A person male or female can lose parental rights for serious crimes.”

Doesn’t even have to be a serious crime.

Let’s not let him off the hook because he committed a vile act. You break it, you own it.””

This creep should be in prison, and if he is, then he cannot even buy a package of diapers for the child.

Rape is more than just an ‘event’. The lingering consequences are often buried in the brain of the woman for a lifetime.

The child shouldn’t be used in this manner.

Oh I read the article. They are certainly claiming she was raped. Was she? Or did she just employ this tactic as a court ploy to not share custody.

Should it go to court. Which it would.

I have a hard time swallowing this story. Sounds like a CNN false flag

“But he should be forced to support her and their child.”

Support, and visitation, are legally independent concepts with different legal and moral basis.

“A man has parental rights... that’s reality - and if he forced a woman to bear his child, he should be responsible for it.”

That is not “parental rights”. That is the child’s right to be supported. Different legal concept.

>> It seems like the real story here is untold and possibly not outrageous.

If it concerns denying the honest man the right to see his child, that too is a serious problem.

The man RAPED a teen, was convicted of a CRIME, and all YOU have now done is prove that you have lousy reading comprehension skills.

What's the matter....does the article, the way you misread it, hit a nerve for you?

None actually... that’s why this is such a farce. They let him plead guilty to groping basically. Had they actually tried him for 1st or 2nd degree, NE would not have allowed the rapist to seek any parental rights.
