Nearly every morning since their father's stunning victory on Election Day, three of Donald Trump's grown children walk through the Trump Tower lobby and board an elevator. But are Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric going to the campaign office on the fifth floor? Their business offices on the 25th floor? The president-elect's penthouse on the 56th floor?
That uncertainty highlights the multiple roles the children play for their father. For the past year, the lines were constantly blurred between political campaign and business empire, raising questions about a possible conflict of interest between Trump's White House and his sprawling business interests.
The children are poised to wield incredible influence over their father, even if they don't follow him to Washington. Trump said consistently during the campaign that if he won, those children would stay in New York and run his business. But the three - plus Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner - were all named to the transition team's executive committee.
So far, they've been heavily involved in shaping the new administration. They've sat in on meetings and taken late night calls from their father. They advocated for making Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chairman, the White House chief of staff. They counseled against bringing back Corey Lewandowski, Trump's first campaign manager, who was fired in June on their advice.
On Thursday, Ivanka Trump and Kushner were present for the president-elect's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Trump Tower.
Trump has insisted he will build a wall between his White House and his company by placing his holdings into a blind trust, but with his children as its trustees. Federal requirements are that independent outsiders run such trusts.

Chris Wallace, on Fox, was just banging away at Pence about this very subject.
“How can you defend Trump’s children running his company while he’s President? Won’t this be the sane thing as the Clinton Foundation? Won’t other countries want to invest in the Trump company for the possibility of getting a political favor? “
Chris Wallace is a scumbag.
The same media who yawned at Michelle Obama’s $300,000 “community relations” job at a hospital are now in full scandal mode, as they always are during Republican administrations.
Not the same thing.
We have laws, checks and balances, ethical rules and safeguards against abuse of power.
Thankfully, running a private business in this country still isn’t a crime.
And its not like the Trump family is expecting or asking for special treatment.
Or the Clinton aides who had simultaneously paid positions with Department of State, the Clinton Foundation and often a third gig, too?
Let the SMEARS BEGIN!. Can always trust the “All Puke” news service to put out communist propaganda and Democrat Party/Soros/Podesta/Clinton propaganda and lies (but I’m being redundant here).
Glad to see that they are consistent in their output, like a bad case of diarrhea.
Please name me the/any prior President’s families that have been even 1/3 as accomplished as the Trump children.
Don’t include the JFK kids—One was eye candy & p-whipped or he might still be alive. The other is a political hack in a skirt.
So— IF you were to be named President Elect of the USA, would you turn to your kids for help & advice? NO? Well, maybe Trump raised some kinds of substance who would NEVER need adult coloring books & Play Doh to assuage their hurt feelings. Which kind of kid was been raised in much larger proportions in the USA in the past 40 years???
Funny how the ‘pension’ that Obama arranged for his MIL in the amount of $160,000 annually hasn’t gotten much daylight by the press.
She lived in the White House—had servants—had cleaning persons—had laundry persons—had help of all kinds in a regal setting & Obama titled her with ‘Caretaker’ of the children-—who were NOT babies when they got to the White House, either. Grandma also traveled all over the world on ‘vacation’ at no expense to her.
Sooo—a grandma who ‘took care’ of her 2 grandchildren in a posh setting & had all kinds of help gets a PENSION of $160,000 a year.
I worked from age 15 to age 66 & MY PENSION in the form of Security is $1129 a month-—and I am due to get a raise of $3 a month from Obama. A whole $36 a year....Guess all the accounting & bookkeeping I did for all those years doesn’t measure up to being a grandma & taking care of 2 grandchildren inside a building with servants.
IF she is already collecting social security of her own-—does the $160,000 pension put her into a tax paying position? How much taxes will she be paying on that money? Grifters-—every one of them.
I would imagine Trump is smart enough to realize that the BSM is going to have a daily fit no matter what he does, so why do anything?

John Adams, Theodore Roosevelt and George H. W. Bush.

Because even though the POTUS is to some extent “above the law” in terms of his asset ownership and business interests, his children might very easily run afoul (or at least “appear” to run afoul) of many regulations and laws, both state and federal, if they give the impression of playing upon WH connections in the course of their business transactions.
Moreover, even if the Justice Department never lays a hand on the Trump family, investigations and litigation by state attorneys general, by other local authorities and by civil litigators could eventually spell serious headaches for Ivanka, Jared, Don Jr. and Eric. Mr. Trump might be well-advised to spare his kids the potential legal jeopardies involved.
I think if they limit the business to running existing facilities they will be fine. How much influence can someone have by playing a round of golf or staying a few nights?
Old “NEWS” and speculation.

Maybe so. But what if they want to expand? Then, what kind of negotiations might occur? With what legal consequences? Appearance of conflicts of interest? Or even real conflicts of interest?
Or what if a foreign bank that has lent them money threatens to call the loan unless certain harsh conditions are met? That sorta thing could get into treacherous territory, like the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Not where they’d wanna be, IMHO.
