Sen. Jeff Sessions is on record saying so-called sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants should be prosecuted. He himself may get that chance next year.
Mr. Sessions is president-elect Donald Trumps pick to be the next attorney general, and if hes confirmed a very large if, at this point he will mark a 180-degree turn from the Obama administration on a host of issues, but nowhere more so than on immigration, where hes been the Senates leading crackdown proponent.
From his first day in office, Mr. Sessions will have the power to strip some federal funding from sanctuary cities, thanks to rulings this year by the Justice Departments inspector general, who said federal law requires localities to cooperate with immigration agents and who provided an initial list of a handful of the worst offenders.
The sanctuary cities thing is huge. I think most jurisdictions are going to fold like a cheap suit, said Rosemary Jenks, government relations manager at NumbersUSA, which lobbies for stricter immigration laws.

I wonder if Trump could direct the FAA to close off flights to those cities airports. probably bad idea
If these people are tried before juries in Federal courts local to their city or state, isn’t it likely that those juries will acquit them ? Wouldn’t we need to ensure there is a change of venue out of these cesspool sanctuary cities to avoid such juries ? Or maybe just charge them with so many counts that the trial goes on forever and costs them a fortune.
YES!! Prosecute the moron mayor of NYC for being proud to flout U.S. law and operate NYC as a sanctuary city for resource-gobbling illegals who consume far more resources than they contribute.
All males between the ages of 18 and 25 must still register for Selective Service, right ? Back in the 80’s when I went to UCI, I recall that being required on my college application. Why can’t colleges be required to forward that information to the Feds ? Any male students who did not provide it should by definition not qualify for in-state tuition and could have ICE look into their status.
The SSS website makes a point of saying they do not share information with Immigration. That is a policy that should change — all Federal agencies should be sharing data to enforce ALL Federal laws.
Even if cities or states refuse to provide data, colleges can be directly threatened with losing all access to Federal grants and student aid if they do not provide the Federal government with all data about the legal status of their students. Don’t tell them what it is for, simply say that proof of SSS registration is required for all male students or the school will not qualify for aid or grants.
If the local police actually interfere with ICE collecting illegals, then they will be charged with obstructing justice. They won’t do that. All they are doing now is failing to notify ICE that they are about to release an illegal they have arrested for some other charge.
What if ICE agents simply park themselves in cities near police stations and pick them up as they are being released ? I think it is routine for police to check anyone arrested against federal databases to make sure they are not wanted for other serious crimes. That database check should tickle the local ICE agents to make a pickup rather than waiting until the police call ICE (which sanctuary cities are not doing). Whatever federal systems the police check just need some additional code to check names and addresses of the felon against IRS and SS databases to determine whether they are illegals or not — no entry in SS database or employment record but far away or name-SS# mismatch, and bingo, ICE has cause to pick the person up and talk to them.
Another idea might be for the FBI to create an entry in the file of every illegal ever brought in for any crime. So their is a detainer order already in place and local police cannot claim they didn’t have an ICE order to hold them.
And the last time a bunch of Democrats wanted to keep their cheap labor force, Republicans started a Civil Ware over it.
That is how these sanctuary cities should be portrayed — as wanting to protect a system of workers they can pay less and abuse. If they claim they really want them legalized, scoff and say they will then just find a new crop of illegals they can abuse and put the legalized ones on the welfare rolls.
And deny them bail on the grounds that they will continue to obstruct justice while waiting for trial. They are habitual offenders, after all.
perfect. This is going to be hilarious. Watch the liberals squirm.
You start at the top of city government. When their replacement takes over — Deputy Mayor — ask them if they will immediately reverse the sanctuary policies. If they refuse, you arrest them as well. Keep going until you get to the one city council member who as interim mayor will comply. Charge them with obstruction of justice, accessory after the fact for any crimes committed by illegals, and conspiracy, and sedition.
Once you have City Hall announcing compliance, you go to the police commissioner and ask them same question. Arrest and ask the replacement, repeat as many times as necessary.
"Jeff Sessions WILL PROSECUTE 'SANCTUARY CITIES'!"
Thank Almighty God: "Righteous exalts a nation; but sin is a disgrace to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)
Too....
much....
winning!!!
They could still prosecute her, convict her, then commute the sentence. Politically, she’d be ruined. The whole “look at all the investigating you’ve done, and nobody has ever found anything she’s done wrong” argument goes right out the window. She’d also have a criminal record and would join her dear hubby among the ranks of the disbarred.
My GUESS is that those places who plan to willfully disobey the laws have ALREADY "lawyered up."
Everyone loses but the lawyers.
One might compare those salaries with the new purchases of very expensive cars. Hmmmm, do I sound a TAD cynical?
Works for me. I really do want to see these crooked, treasonous pols prosecuted and jailed.
Okay, I’m going to demonstrate my ignorance. Who’s the guy upper left?
Hillary
Oh, Jesus...The beard fooled me. I thought it might have been some pasty old guy.
Doesn’t matter if they lawyer up or not. If they refuse to provide the data, the money for grants and student aid stops.
Then you surround the college with the National Guard and order an evacuation for terrorist threats and no re-entry until the situation is resolved. You let people exit if they can show ID. The students who cannot show ID get to talk to ICE.
Nice plans.
Sounds like a round-up of bad guys by your posse.
Give'em til noon tomorrow to get outta Dodge.
