President-elect Donald Trump sent this tweet early this morning about General James “Mad Dog” Mattis…

"General James "Mad Dog" Mattis, who is being considered for Secretary of Defense, was very impressive yesterday. A true General's General!" — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 20, 2016

Could be because Ret. 4-Star Army Gen. Jack Keane was asked to serve as SecDef, but turned the gig down.

From NPR:

President-elect Donald Trump asked him to serve as secretary of defense, retired four-star Army Gen. Jack Keane tells NPR’s Rachel Martin — but Keane declined the offer, citing personal reasons. Keane says he recommended retired generals James Mattis and David Petraeus for the job.

“I was asked to serve, but I’m not able to,” Keane told Rachel. “I have some personal issues surrounding the death of my wife recently, and I explained all that to Mr. Trump, and he was very gracious and understanding, and quite supportive.”

Keane’s wife, Theresa, died in late June after a fight with Parkinson’s Disease. The couple were married for 51 years and raised two sons.

The Hill says Keane recommended Mattias to Trump…

Keane, who visited Trump Tower on Thursday, said he recommended retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis and former CIA Director David Petraeus for the position.

Something about Mattias is that he’s a no-nonsense type of man, and that’s exactly who Trump is looking for…

So sad to hear about Gen. Keane's wife. Very good reason to turn the SecDef position down and great he recommended Gen. Mattis.

Since Mad Dog is a legend in the Marines..Dems might be swayed to vote for the waiver if they served in the Marines.

No Waiver. No job for Mad Dog

>>>I wonder how many Dems were in the Marines<<<

Does the Marine supply room issue safety pins and teddy bears? That alone would preclude all the democrats I know.

Here is the list for the House. I don’t know if they have to vote on the waiver or if it is just the Senate.

LtGen Mattis led a fire team assault on an enemy position in Iraq. True story. The eye witness was my former boss and long time friend.

Patriotism goes on BOTH sides of the aisle. But the Marines? Lol. THAT takes a whole different breed of American. I don't think the Marines care what your party affiliation is...unless there's a third party: the Marines.
