Cinnamon is not the only spice with gut-cooling properties.
According to Ayurveda (ancient [mostly Indian] healing and preventative medical science) coriander, cumin and some other spices are also cooling agents.

Another use for cinnamon is quitting smoking. When you get the urge to smoke just grab a cinnamon stick instead, it was a big help to me.

The study’s conclusions are abject BS and do nothing but outline how backwards western medicine really is in regards to understanding the chemical signaling that triggers gastric acid production (let alone the rest of the enteric nervous system). Cinnamon has no effect on the stomach; its beneficial effect is in the colon.
Btw, if you’re taking prilosec, you’re worsening your health on the basis of lousy medical research.
