Over the past week, liberals have been freaking out over the different members announced for President-elect Donald Trumps administration. From Steve Bannnon to General Michael Flynn, the left has been in panic mode over what they consider inappropriate picks for the White House.
Well, one man whose name has just been floated as a possible pick for Department of Education is none other than Larry Arnn, president of the conservative Hillsdale College.
Hillsdale College, as most of you know, accepts no federal money, and therefore is the antithesis to everything liberals believe, so Arnns potential role in the Trump administration will likely drive the left mad.
Names fly around at light speed. Mine is one of the minor names. This is not the first time this has happened to me, Arnn wrote in an email to Hillsdales campus newspaper on Thursday.
Some people of influence would like for me to do it, Arnn said of filling the education secretary post, noting that he has not formally been asked by the president-elects team if he is interested in the Cabinet-level position. If those people decide to ask me, then I will make a decision. I will make no decision that I think would harm the college or result in my permanent separation from it.
On his radio show, conservative icon Rush Limbaugh cheered the idea of Arnn heading up the Department of Education:
Can you imagine if Larry Arnn ended up as education secretary? Limbaugh told his listeners. You put him in there at education and Cruz or Jeff Sessions as attorney general look, Im here to tell you that the names I have seen floated are more solid and better in terms of conservatism than your average Republican nominee would put together.

Shut down the Dep of Education!
Agreed.
There shouldn’t even be a Federal Department of Education,
I love the smell of liberal heads exploding in the morning.
Why not its been a roaring success
Making Arnn the Secretary of Education is closest Trump can get to unilaterally abolishing the federal DOE.
What? It won’t be Romney?
Unless...
Arnn is there to close up shop.
Hillsdale is a great resource > IMO.
Arnn has done a good job there.
He’s probably as qualified as anyone to move us in the direction we want to go.
Then do away with the department.
You can’t just close up shop, because it would create a vacuum the Left would exploit,
Arnn is a fine scholar and administrator, not sure he’s the right one for the job that needs to be done. I’d look more for someone like Romney who has worked in private equity where the name of the game is to buy a company, get rid of everything that’s wrong about it, and then exit the business. In business the goal is to restructure the company so it’s making money, in the Dept of Education the goal would be to restructure it to kill off common core, return education to local control, and then exit the business in order to give millions of American kids a fighting chance at a successful life.
Dang. I wish I owned some stock in Huggies.
Agreed.
Don’t even mention the name.
No more....
1. breakfasts at schools
2. fed loans for majors like xx-STUDIES
3. schools stuck with bad student loans in case of default
4. written parental permission in case of any muslim learning or field trip
5. arrests of students in possesion of food vaguely resembling a weapon (pistol pastry, etc)
No GOPe RINO left behind
Thanks...
If a state wants to do a school breakfast, that’s the state’s choice. But there won’t be a one size fits all forced from the Feds.
Which Dept. is in charge of Student Loans?
whoops!
I mean a University SHOULD be stuck with the tab if a certain number of students skip out on their student loans for stupid, unmarketable majors.
Well, if you are going to drive libs batsh&t crazy no matter what you do, you might as well go for it. I’ve used the same strategy when a fight is inevitable. Drive opponent into a rage because raging people make mistakes.
I believe that the word “education” does not appear in the US Constitution so little as a SINGLE time.
There really should be NO Dept. of Education.
