Republican Sen. Ted Cruz signaled willingness to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalias seat on the U.S. Supreme Court Friday afternoon at a conference of conservative and libertarian lawyers in Washington, D.C.
What I will say is that history is long and can take unexpected paths, he said in response to an audience question about his filling the vacancy. I think it is absolutely vital that that seat and every other seat that comes vacant on the court be filled by principled constitutionalists who will be faithful to the law and will check their own policy preferences at the door and simply honor their oath.
And I look forward to continuing to carry out that responsibility and continuing to fight for the principles of freedom and the principles embodied in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, he added.
Though Cruz is not among the 21 jurists named to President-elect Donald Trumps list of possible Supreme Court nominees, rumors abound on Capitol Hill that his name is in serious contention.

I don’t trust him, either.
I’ve avoided coming in here for months after the nastiness of the primaries and thought I’d come back in to check things out... looks like nothing has changed. Sad.
“Or a David Souter.”
Or an Anthony Kennedy! Personally, I’d like to see President Trump “pack the court” with eleven justices right now. Otherwise the Liberal Miscreants there now will have an incentive to “stay on” and let the Grim Reaper decide when they go. There are three who need to go. When they are gone the court will be again at nine.

Blame the lying back-stabber, not us.
Really bad idea. He thinks a child born in Saudi Arabia to a Palestinian father and an American mother is a natural born citizen and eligible to be President.

So I take it you are “still butt hurt” that the vast majority of us still don’t like Scruze? Fine, AMF!
Actually, it would be a brilliant move. A staunch constitutional conservative on the court......an easy senate seat to replace with a pub, and a shoe in for senate vote, since they will vote yes so they don’t have to work with him anymore.
Alabama State Justice Roy Moore was suspended for the rest of his term on the
State Supreme court. I doubt he’ll be in consideration.
Anyone who gets NBC wrong, perhaps for personal gain, does not belong on the SC.
I dislike Cruz, particularly after his behavior once he lost in the primaries, but that is not important. Ted Cruz would be an excellent, intellectual, articulate, and conservative Supreme Court Justice.
Cruz is at the top of my list for that job.
No Cruz. No Romney. No Bushes. No bull.
Just shut up and push Trump’s appointments threw the Senate
Correction:
Cruz is 9-5 before the Supremes.
I’m sure he wants it. You can’t always get what you want.
After the way he behaved I have completely lost all confidence in him. The character of the man himself is in doubt.
He fooled me once, even got some of my money. I really don’t want him to fool me again.
I’m open to becoming emperor.
Whatever . . .
I'll post Kellyanne's quote for all to see.

Part of me would love to see hundreds of thousands of liberal heads not only explode, but melt, metastasize, and fizzle out like a cheap roman candle, if Trump were to nominate him.
But, even if Trump did, I can’t imagine how brutal the Senate hearings would be. Talk about being “Borked”. I don’t think Cruz would ever be confirmed. He’s got too many enemies.
