Ted Cruz Signals Openness To Supreme Court Appointment
DC ^ | 11/18/2016 | Kevin Daley

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz signaled willingness to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the U.S. Supreme Court Friday afternoon at a conference of conservative and libertarian lawyers in Washington, D.C.

“What I will say is that history is long and can take unexpected paths,” he said in response to an audience question about his filling the vacancy. “I think it is absolutely vital that that seat and every other seat that comes vacant on the court be filled by principled constitutionalists who will be faithful to the law and will check their own policy preferences at the door and simply honor their oath.”

“And I look forward to continuing to carry out that responsibility and continuing to fight for the principles of freedom and the principles embodied in the Constitution and Bill of Rights,” he added.

Though Cruz is not among the 21 jurists named to President-elect Donald Trump’s list of possible Supreme Court nominees, rumors abound on Capitol Hill that his name is in serious contention.

Fat chance. Kellyanne has already stated it’s not going to happen. President Trump will stick to his previous list under consideration.

Cruz is looking for work because he likely is in trouble in Texas with his Senate seat.

And to think I was once one of his strongest supporters and defenders.

Trump has said repeatedly he’s sticking to that list of 21 he issued over the summer.

Trump is more than magnanimous if he puts Cruz up for SCOTUS.

It would keep him quiet.

Maybe the next opening, after we sweep 2018 and have a super-majority in the Senate.

While I think Cruz is well qualified I would prefer not to see another Ivy Leaguer on the bench. Need a solid conservative from flyover country.

Exactly where I am too! WH rest room attendant maybe. This guy has more “corners” that a dodecahedron! There’s just no way he could be trusted and with a lifetime appointment. We could end up with another Earl Warren.

I was a Cruz supporter, but TRump should stick to his list for the first one. Cruz can spend the next two tears annoying RINOs and lefties in the Senate, and then take the Ginsburg seat when it comes up. They’ll vote him in to be rid of him.

After Cruz’ hijinks in the primary, I’d be wary of giving him a lifetime appointment to anything.

He’s brilliant, but I’m not sure anymore what he’s really thinking. The conservatism he initially displayed might have been a ploy—I just don’t know any more.

And no, I don’t think he’s an NBC—and if anyone should have known the difference it would have been legal-beagle Cruz.

i might be open to a SCt appointment, too, and I did not try to undermine Mr. Trump after he won the nomination

THIS IS MY “SIGNAL”
