[The author has been] reporting for weeks now about the D.C.-based “pizza pedophilia” ring that is being exposed based on thousands of “Podesta emails” released by Wikileaks in the past month or two.... reported weeks ago about this “pedo ring” and something called “photo steganography”...[data encrypted in photos]...hidden data could literally just be a few bits of information but it could open up thousands of gigabytes of data in the right website or compressed file. That’s how the users would access the dirty pictures, videos, messages, etc....from a technical angle, this method is very possible, and it makes sense of why the Podesta emails include so many strange photo attachments. Are all those attachments little “Trojan ponies” for sharing images, videos, passwords, payment resources, etc.?

Protected from being pushed around, yes; protected from impeachment, no. Especially when there is evidence he violated the law; for just one example, as in conspiring to destroy evidence covered by a congressional subpoena.
Of course, he might be quite willing to provide new actionable info and just "quietly" resign in return for not being impeached.
Initially Comey listed ad-nausem all the reasons that hillary should be prosecuted and then recommended her not be prosecuted!
Few figured that one out.
But it's the same answer as his comments several days before the election on why he wouldn't recommend prosecution.
Think about it.He has 100 FBI resignations on his desk from agents who worked thier asses off on the foundation and hillary etc. His people are severely pissed off at him. Why isn't he recommending prosecution so we all will feel better about things?
Comey knows that if he recommends prosectution to Loretta Lynch the prosecutorial body,he's just the investigative body, that all the hard work all the angst all the discoveries made by his agents go up in smoke since the regime will not prosecute Hillary!! what they will do or try to do is to destroy any and all evidence against her or any high ranking dem so none of this will ever see the light of day.
Maybe it's just possible Comey does not want that to happen.
Maybe he would rather give all his evidence to sayyyyy a Jeff Sessions rather than a Loretta Lynch. Does that make any sense? Yeah I think so.

If so, it seems possible you took my comments in #208 out of context. Would I endorse promptly initiating impeachment proceeding v Comey? Absolutely not.
Here is an excerpt from Comey’s announcement :
She also used her personal e-mail extensively while outside the United States, including sending and receiving work-related e-mails in the territory of sophisticated adversaries. …we assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account.
That is very serious all by itself and the conclusion of his announcement, as you suggest, left many experienced agents with a WTH look on their face. Additionally, the intelligence level IG that originally had the case and referred it to the FBI, as well as well as the intelligence sources that brought it to his attention, must also have had a WTH reaction.
There are simply too many folks who know Hill’s actions did not require intent for a criminal prosecution. If Comey’s superiors directed him to kill the case by not recommending prosecution he likely concluded there was no way he could fool all those folks. Thus, I believe he did what he had to do and that hasn’t been made public yet.
