WASHINGTON — The congressional district seat reportedly being targeted for a run by Chelsea Clinton may not be vacant any time soon.
The New York Post reported last week that Democratic operatives within the Empire State are quietly grooming Chelsea to run in the Westchester seat currently occupied by longtime Democratic Congresswoman Nita Lowey.
“There has been a lot of speculation within New York Democratic circles about Lowey’s retirement and Chelsea running for the seat. There is a belief that Chappaqua is a logical place for Chelsea to run, because it would be straightforward for her to raise money and build a powerful base,” a source told The Post.
Lowey previously stepped aside for Hillary to run in 1999 for the New York Senate seat vacated by Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan. However, Lowey, who is 79 years old, told TheDC she has no plans to retire in the near future.
“You’ll have to ask Chelsea. I’m running for office. I currently serve and the future will take care of itself. I will keep running,” she said.
Lowey added, “I don’t know who’s putting all those articles out, frankly, but you’ll have to ask Chelsea. I am currently running. I am currently serving the people of my district.”

If she's being "groomed" for anything, I'd say it's a House district that has 95% registered Democrats and hasn't had a Republican Congressman in decades.
The Clintons’ political power just hit Jeb Bush levels.

Carpetbagging is not a Problem for the Clintons,easy enough to buy a new house.
Chelsea Clinton lives in Manhattan right now, so she could run for any
number of House seats just by moving within the next two years.

Yes. I agree. I remember when she was just starting college she was thinking about medical school. That did not last long, and although I have no basis for which to say this, my suspicion is that she was pushed away from this from her mother, who probably didn’t think it was enough stature or power.

I’m sure Nita already committed arkanside next year.
A walk in Fort Marcy Park may lead her to a sudden change of mind.

The fact that she can openly tell the Clintons to get bent is a sure sign that their power in the party is dying, if not dead.
