Risking arrest and violence, civil rights activists worked for decades to make racist language and symbols – once pervasive – out of bounds for public discourse.

Now, hate-speech monitors warn, the rise of President-elect Donald Trump’s brand of populism is nudging old taboos back into the mainstream, with his supporters feeling emboldened enough to put their own names behind letters and online comments that use broad generalizations and inaccurate statistics to smear racial and religious minorities.

One woman, Elizabeth Ranew, wrote that Trump supporters shouldn’t be labeled racist “just because white Americans are fed up with footing the bill for every lazy human being that does not want to work in this country.”

The Equal Protection Clause is part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The clause, which took effect in 1868, provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction "the equal protection of the laws".

Do we have that? Hell no. We have government jack booted discrimination against whites in the form of Affirmative Action (for hiring, university admission, loans, etc), selective enforcement for "hate crimes", special rights for homosexuals, a stacked circuit court system, and Obama's "Just Us" Department.

One reason they murdered Scalia was their hatred and fear of him. He said things like this:

So the Left literally riots, beats Trump supporters and loots businesses and the Sac Bee’s take-away is that Trump is bringing back totalitarianism. Earth to Sac Bee: Trump used to be a Democrat. He’s pushing for infrastructure spending. He has “no problem” with gay marriage. This is Orwellian fantasy on the part of the MSM.

With the boundaries on acceptable political speech shifting so dramatically, many Americans seem unaware – or perhaps unconcerned – that there are still potential consequences to using one’s own name in fiery posts on social media or in comments sections. Some activists police those spaces by identifying offensive commenters and sending the posts to their employers. A Tumblr, Racists Getting Fired, follows the outcomes of some of those cases. Just this week, two West Virginia officials were fired over a Facebook post that described First Lady Michelle Obama as an “ape in heels.”

In other words, Leftists are very busy doxxing any right-winger that can, in efforts to get them fired, or otherwise create problems for them.

Looks to me to be the second straight time the the Editors of the Sacramento Bee place an absolute reliance on the probity and accuracy of the infamous SPLC, the Southern Poverty Law Center.

“The reality is, that for much of the life of the internet, people have hurled insults and all kinds of hate attacks, but they have hidden behind fake names,” said Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate speech and bias-related attacks. “I think what’s happened is that, in part because Donald Trump has legitimized this, people feel that they have nothing to be ashamed of.”

As for me, I regard the SPLC as a tendentious, biased and totally unreliable spewer of LEFTIST justifications. The last cite by them in the previous SB Editorial, talked about the appearance of swastikas and, in one incident, with the words "Heil Trump"! These are included in the MASSIVE 200 incident report accumulated by the SPLC. I have a query, is it remotely possible that the "Heil Trump" and swastika MIGHT be an anti-Trump graffiti?

Activists worked to take certain language and symbols out of the public discourse.

The problem is, silencing others doesn’t change their attitudes. Further, “a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still”. Open discourse is what changes minds but the left is too cowardly to engage in open discourse. Colleges and universities are closed fora, not because the kids couldn’t handle hearing contrary views on important subject but because their professors would be unable to refute the contrary views. The snowflake excuse is for the professors and administrators, not the students. One who lacks facts and commonsense to support their views wants only silence, enforced by laws and violence if necessary.

I am part of a group (actually several groups) that often faces criticism and discrimination, as I think most people are at one time or another during their lives. I would far rather have people express their opinions openly than try to guess whether they really don’t like me and will try to sabotage me behind my back. I would far rather be able to engage honestly in discussing opinions than working to silence someone. Shunning and silencing are for cowards.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (also know as the "Spreads Propaganda and Lies Center") labels Christians organizations as "hate groups" because they follow God's Word on the subject of homosexuality being a sin.

A man who shot a security guard at the American Family Association a few years back was asked by he targeted the Christian pro-family group. He said that he got their name and address from the SPLC's "hate group" on-line list.

Not only was the murder suspect in the shooting of three young Muslim students in Chapel Hill, N.C., Feb.10 a vehement atheist, he was also a fan of the Southern Poverty Law Center, as The Weekly Standard pointed out Feb. 11. A quick trip to the Craig Hicks's Facebook page reveals that not only was Hicks a fan of the SPLC, he was a self-described “militant atheist”- with numerous photos, memes and posts mocking Christianity. Some posts call God a sociopath and call Christianity a “pyramid scheme.”
