In the Spring of 2019, Californians will go to the polls in a historic vote to decide by referendum if California should exit the Union, a #Calexit vote.
You will have this historic opportunity because the Yes California Independence Campaign will qualify a citizens initiative for the 2018 ballot that if passed would call for a special election for Californians to vote for or against the independence of California from the United States.
This is a very important question. It is the responsibility of this campaign to explain what a yes vote will mean for you, your family, your community, our state, our country, and our world. We have designed this website to answer many of these questions and look to you to ask more.
Yeah, I think it will turn out like the “Virginia/West Virginia” decision in 1861 ...
I grew up in California during the drought in the 70s. I remember people threatened to shut the aqueduct and turn off the water to SoCal. We were rationing, they were washing cars and watering lawns. It fueled a lot of "split the state" talk.
And if we do, can I ride on the lead tank?
As long as we get the State of Jefferson, I am fine with that...the rest can leave....
Me too.
Funny that the Third World hates Christians/Whitey, but LOVES and covets all that it's built (yes, we DID "built it," Mr. Communitah Organizer.)
I wouldn't mind this #Calexit referendum seceding one bit. With that kind of precedence, several southern states can also secede should 0bama Pt 2 occur.
“I dont think California could survive without all that pork and federal funding they love so much.”
That’s a major reason why the referendums in Quebec and Scotland failed in ‘95 and ‘16 respectively.
good....please do it...please....then we can build a wall around you....
“good....please do it...please....then we can build a wall around you....”
With guard towers and machine guns please!
No, because math. Obama would have won in 2008 or 2012 without California’s electoral votes. Look it up - I’m right.
This could be useful.
Let them secede and, before they establish any kind of treaty for military assistance, a bunch of us can invade and take it over. I could use some beach property.
Most of those lefties aren’t armed so it should be relatively easier.
Gang areas will be tough, but without US constitutional protection of their right to life, do we really care?
Texas has the resources and infrastructure that would allow it to survive as an independent nation. California? Not so much.
They can’t even provide their own water anymore.
Since there is time before the polls, take away any big vessels and nukes so that they have zero nuclear weapons and about zero navy if they say yes to secession.
Ha! Yeah, the defecting ‘Rats will want every DPRK budget to include $5B or $10B foreign aid from the USA taxpayers! Eff ‘im.
Which means all the States should have a say regarding whether a State may secede. The federal government must make sure the Constitution is obeyed. If the States permit the secession, the feds should not interfere. If the State block the secession, the feds should enforce that decision.
You can say that again...I'm all for it - lol
From wikipedia:
In Texas v. White, the United States Supreme Court ruled unilateral secession unconstitutional, while commenting that revolution or consent of the States could lead to a successful secession.
