Commentary: First on Trump to-do list is pardon for Clinton
Philly.com ^ | 11/16/2016 | Jeremy Rabkin and John Yoo

Donald Trump's election has raised deep concerns, even among his supporters, that he may misuse the vast powers of the presidency. We believe that he can take early steps now, even before he takes office, to signal that he will use executive power to unify the country, despite a campaign that emphasized differences within the Republican Party and among American voters generally.

Trump should look for policy initiatives where he can appeal to both Republicans and Democrats. He will need Congress' support for tax cuts, regulatory reform, and a rejuvenated military. We believe he can make three commitments, well within the president's constitutional authorities, to show that he will use the office in the public interest and to respect democracy, rather than lean toward authoritarianism.

First: The president-elect should promise a pardon, on day one, for Hillary Clinton. Article II of the Constitution places no limit on the president's power to "grant reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States," except for impeachment. Many Americans believe Clinton was guilty of conduct that would trigger prosecution of a lesser figure. But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of pursuing his political opponents with criminal law. A prosecution would divert attention from all other Trump initiatives and discourage any compromise and cooperation from Democrats.

Saving the country from bitter turmoil is one of the reasons why the president has a pardon power. [snip] It would signal that Clinton violated the law with her private email server and mishandling of classified information. Nor would a pardon bar the Justice Department from fully investigating any corruption involving the Clinton Foundation. A pardon would show that a President-elect Trump can win with grace, put the nastiness of the campaign behind us all, and focus our energies on the future.

I agree with you but unfortunately drones (useful idiots) from the left will get dragged into this by their NWO masters and will pay the price.

Is there something SPECIAL about the Arkansas Medusa that makes her immune from legal consequences? Either there is a rule of law or there is not and it must apply to EVERYONE even the Clinton Crime Family. I would sooner see pardons for elderly Mafiosi who are often men of traditional values.

Give her three poor quality bologna sandwiches a day and a Spartan cot in a 6' X 6' cell in the most vile women's prison available. No lesbian contact with other prisoners. Feed her in the cell. Televise (Pay TV) her incarceration. Keep her in solitary whenever possible. BREAK HER IN TWO or TWELVE or whatever!

Pardoned for what? There is, we were given to believe, an active criminal investigation of the Clinton Foundation, involving possible bribery and graft, money laundering, etc, etc. These are offenses specific to the office in question, which is that of Secretary of State, not being a candidate for the Presidency.

These are serious accusations. If, in fact, the foreign policy of the United States of America was for sale to the highest bidder during her tenure, then pardoning the perpetrators to make the country feel good is not really a sound priority. And, in fact, I question the authors' implication that it will make anyone on their side of the political fence feel one whit less hostile toward Trump or his supporters. It is just as likely to serve as a justification for a triumphant "see, she was innocent all along" meme, which does not serve the interest of justice at all. No pardon, and let the chips fall where they may.

NO WAY !!!

The core of Trump’s supporters are very tired of the escapes the Clinton Corruption Machine has managed in the past 40 years.

SHE & HER cohorts MUST be prosecuted. Trump said it openly on the debate stage & he MUST carry that promise thru.

Otherwise, his followers WILL REVOLT.

Actually I understand completely why she wasn’t indicted during the campaign, and agree, but the campaign is over. Time to indict.

as the Bible says: let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. Try getting that into your rhino minds.

So you are going to abandon Trump when he does something along the lines I suggested? You offered nothing to support your position, so spare me the lecture.

Last I heard, The ‘Office of the President Elect’ has never been held by anyone who granted a Pardon, ever.

“But an actual prosecution would create the terrible appearance of”

Trump not meaning what he said during the campaign;
and “equal justice under law” being a fantasy.

"....that Fascist F*ck will have us swinging from nooses..." From your lips to God's ear, Hillary, dear!

The nooses should be fashioned of piano wire!

Not on my watch...Hil-liar-y confessed on TV when she said, “...will have us swing from nooses...” That is a confession and after reading the Wikileaks she more than deserves it as do her henchmen and hench women. String the up!! Traitors and the more I read about her relationship with Soros, the amoral propagandizer of globalism and communism, the more I want them all gone forever. They can do great damage if left alive and loose.

She must be held accountable. There is too much that she has done. Too much blood on her hands.
