Hundreds walk out of Stanford classes, demand ‘sanctuary campus’

More than 500 Stanford University students, faculty and staff members walked out of classrooms and ducked out of jobs Tuesday in a protest of the policies of Donald Trump, the latest in a wave of Bay Area and national demonstrations against the president-elect. Some of the Stanford dissidents, though, came with a concrete demand for the university’s administrators: investigating the possibility of the South Bay campus serving as a sanctuary against the sort of millions of deportations Trump has said he’ll seek as president. Hundreds of people — students, faculty, staff and other supporters — had as of Tuesday evening signed an open letter addressed to President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost John Etchemendy urging the two leaders to “immediately develop a protocol for making itself a sanctuary campus.” Sanctuary cities, like San Francisco, have formally adopted policies for local law enforcement limiting their cooperation with federal immigration authorities when it comes to deporting individuals just for being undocumented. Emphasizing Stanford’s support for the Dream Act, which would allow undocumented students to attend the school and apply for citizenship if passed by Congress, Lapin added that “this is a time to reaffirm our commitment to free expression, diversity and inclusion.” California passed its own version of the Dream Act in July 2011, granting undocumented students access to private scholarships to attend state schools. In an interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes” Sunday, Trump said he would deport or arrest two million to three million undocumented immigrants, though adding that he would prioritize those with criminal records.

Simple solution: they are not fulfilling their duties as faculty, administrators, or students so recall all the student loans and all federal funding. I’m tired of the Left: 1) thumbing their nose at the law, and 2) acting like two year olds’ who aren’t getting their way. Time for a financial punch in the nose.

Furthermore, for some lucky professors and staff there is partially subsidized University housing. I had a friend who worked in their business office, and he was allowed to build a new house on University owned land. He owned the house, but the University owned the land and he was allowed to use it on a low dollar 99 year lease. But if he ever left, he’d have to sell the house to another employee. Sweet.

Let them pay for themselves and the illegals - instead of their parents doing it - and see if they still want it to be a sanctuary - it’s only those who pay nothing that want the gravy train to expand, if they ever have to foot the bill the tune will change abruptly.

I don’t know how we got through college back in the days when we didn’t have the full force of the federal government there to tuck us into bed at night.

Fail them all. These fragile snowflakes have been raised to be perpetual children with the exception that the normal consequences of a child throwing a tantrum have been removed. So they go into purple faced rages about their feeeeelings and everyone is supposed to just accept it. Let them take home an F in the classes they walked out of, they desperately need a lesson in how the world works before it punches them in face when they are out of college and there are no more safe spaces to hide in.

The rot in the educational system is very deep, going all the way back into grade school. Everyone gets a A. Everyone gets a trophy. Everyone is that special snowflake. Everyone is a social justice warrior.

This will not end well for this nation.

It would serve this country well to lose the dollar as world reserve currency. Then lets see how the special snowflakes handle that outcome.

Everyone gets a A.

That has long been the system at Stanford. It has always been said that if you can survive the rigorous admission exercise that you will graduate with an A or B average -- no matter what you did there. This practice became even more notorious during the Viet Nam War to the point that there was a protest by the Math and Engineering Departments in the Academic Senate. Naturally the Liberal Arts folks ruled the day and outvoted the engineers and mathematicians, etc. There was even an infamous case where a Mathematics professor was murdered in his office by a disgruntled PhD student who felt that the prof was holding him back by not approving his dissertation.

The Affluenza have spoken. God bless their little, sanctimonious hearts, their “”poor me”” souls...my heart bleeds for them.

I am actually sorry they have to suffer the slings and arrows of Stanford’s elitists...they will not know the kindness and kinship derived from mixed income or racially diverse neighborhoods. The Affluenza and Clintonistas will tumble into gentrified havens of stashes of Smash, Coke and THC.

My bigger problem with all this is how well will they deal with the Jerry Epsteins and his Lolita Express. Or do all elitists think pedophilia is O.K.? NAMBLA is out there waiting for their bucks and bottoms you know...as are the Clintons, Podestas and the Comet Pizza Express.

Loyal Leftists just following the example set by FDR during WWII ... make the Stanford campus into a form of an internment camp.

Some people just never grow up. No wonder so many people are so stupid and ignorant. Our so-called education system is a joke and exists to brainwash people. And it has been successful.

Stanford is not the place it was when Lou and Herbert Hoover were there for sure!

There’s gonna be a lot of parents out there wondering why they shelled out $240K+ tuition for their little princes and princesses, and the little darlings still can’t find a job. Like elections, parenting has consequences.

More than 500 Stanford University students, faculty and staff members

Total enrollment: 16,122 (2015) + Academic staff: 2,118 + Administrative staff: 11,128; total 26,368

So almost 500 (looked like?) out of over 29,000!! Was this on Monday? Could have been hungover/drunk/druged?

Students need to go to Sweden or Germany and help their immigrants and see how long that will lasts. They’ll change their tune and head back home.

What about a sanctuary for native born American kids, who have lost their right to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Founding Fathers in many California cities and school systems, being run by "politically correct" fantatics, whose policies favor south of the border migrants, illegally present, but free to celebrate their foreign heritage, while trashing ours?

The hypocrisy of those who obviously do not respect what Washington won at Yorktown, knows no bounds. The whole future is at issue. We dare not accept this lunacy.
