Nuke ’Em: Priming the Senate for Necessary Action
American Spectator ^ | 11/14/16 | Jed Babbin

They’re prepping the congressional battlefield for the two toughest fights the Dems will have in 2017: the repeal of Obamacare and the confirmation of Trump’s nomination of a conservative to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Those are the two most important campaign promises Trump made that have to be accomplished in the coming year if they’re going to be accomplished at all.

The Dems will mount their first round filibusters when the confirmation process begins. They will filibuster some of the cabinet and subcabinet folks as a warm-up so that they and their media allies can practice for the two bigger battles. Once Trump makes a first nomination for the Supreme Court or offers Congress a proposal to repeal Obamacare, they’ll pull out all the stops.

That can’t be blown past even if the Republican Senate invokes the “nuclear option” to revoke the filibuster rule.

When Harry Reid, the last Senate Democratic leader, nuked the Republicans by revoking the filibuster rule in 2013, he did so by simple majority vote.

The 2013 nuclear event prevented the Republicans from filibustering most of Obama’s nominees. But Reid’s new rule didn’t prevent them from filibustering Supreme Court nominees or legislation. Before this election, the Dems were rumored to be planning to extend the filibuster ban to Supreme Court nominations as well, if they’d regained control of the Senate.

Time to extend the filibuster ban and give the Dems a dose of their own medicine.

Yep!

Message to Harry Reid:

“We’ll see your nuclear option and raise you one!”

Chew on that for awhile Harry....you’ll have nothing else to do.

(I don’t care that he’s gone. He’s so vile, its important to direct the message at him)

The Republicans hold the trump card:
Trump has published a list (two, actually) of people he would consider for nomination to SCOTUS. This has two implications:
  1. nominating someone on that list is a campaign promise, the breaking of which would be an unforced error, and

  2. every name on that list constituted a target opportunity for the Democrats. If there truly was anything wrong with any one name on that list, they could have screamed to the public, “If you elect Trump, Judge so-and-so will be put on the Supreme Court.” They didn’t do it. They didn’t say, “Boo!” about any of those names.
The conclusion is that Trump names someone on that list, and the Democrats lose have already lost the argument over his/her confirmation.

As it should be (at least for the conservatives), not so much for the demodummies, look at the judges they have, with conservatives saying nothing, already appointed. Trump needs to fill the SC with as many conservatives as he can find.

If Mitch the b*tch allows the filibuster we’ll know he’s a Hillaryite and seeks to keep the corruption in place... Trump will have to take him down. Republicans control the Senate, but I fear conservatives do not.

Rationally, yes. Rats are anything but rational. Once he narrows the list to one they will descend on that one and destroy them. The question becomes, can enough Rat Senators be peeled of the pack to get the nominee confirmed in spite of the blizzard of lies the NY Slimes, et. al. will produce?

Think about it. What can Trump do to distract the BSM? Prosecute Hillary? A bunch of stuff to clutter the air can be a benefit. Set them to caterwauling about a number of things at once.

Rationally, the Dems need 40 to sustain a filibuster, and they only have 48 senators, total. Twenty five (25) of them - an outright majority - are up for reelection in ’18, and ten of those are from states Trump won (including one from WVa, which Trump won by about a two-to-one margin). That is the kind of rationality that Democrats understand.

And if the Republicans are able to make vote fraud harder to get away with and more painful to get caught at, that would help even more.
