...Trump swore that he would refuse his Presidential salary if elected...

John F. Kennedy was the wealthiest man ever sworn in as President of the United States. He had given his congressional salary to charity, and he maintained the practice once he got to the White House.

Herbert Hoover, whose net worth was estimated to be nearly $4 million in 1913, divided most of his presidential salary between various charities. He used the rest to supplement the incomes of his staff.

I’d love to see President Trump give his to various veteran’s, police officer and fireman charities.

Maybe Trump would donate the money to a worthy charity like St Judes.

Hoover said he wouldn’t take a salary but teh courts ordered him to do so, so he took $1 and sent the rest to charity.

Amen. It’s taxypayer money, and if he foregoes a salary, it should remain with the Treasury or be earmarked for debt reduction, even though it would be a drop in the ocean.

Exactly right, that’s the point of not taking the money to start with, if he takes it, no matter want he does with it, the taxpayers take the hit.

When he said he would not take a paycheck, that is what it means. In order to give the money to charity, he would have to take the check and cash it.

Hoover also bailed out Harry Truman after the latter left the White House nearly broke in 1953. There was no presidential pension at that time.

Rich as Donald Trump is, his entire fortune - never mind his salary - would barely register against our staggering national debt.

Yeah, but the $400,000 would only buy Trump an Egg McMuffin breakfast at the drive-through and a meetup drive-by with Huma.

Trump supports St. Judes. I'm pretty sure Seinfeld backed out of a St. Judes commitment when he found out Trump was one of the backers of the event.

In fairness to Seinfeld, he did cough up some dough in lieu of his appearance. Not sure the money was put up when he backed out, or after the bad publicity started.

Why not a national lottery to raffle off his salary and he pays the taxes? You are eligible if you’ve been counted in the census.

But only if he gets on the board of directors and they bump the foundation's charitable spending from 6% to 90% or more.
