Insiders say Donald Trump is 'disgusted' by Chris Christie

President-elect Donald Trump is so disgusted with Chris Christie’s handling of the Bridgegate scandal that he’s kicking the New Jersey Gov. out of his inner circle, The Post has learned.

“Trump thought it was shameful that Christie didn’t take the fall for [convicted aide] Bridget Kelly,” said a source close to the transition team. “Trump is really angry that Christie is sending a soccer mom to jail. He believes 100 percent that Christie was behind it all.”

Christie’s former deputy chief of staff was convicted in federal court earlier this month along with former Port Authority executive Bill Baroni. They were charged with causing dangerous traffic tie-ups on the George Washington Bridge in September 2013 as political payback for Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich not endorsing Christie...

FReepers don’t appreciate how deep in hostile territory Christie was (and is). He’s done pretty much everything he could do given the realities of the legislature and local government in Jersey.

That said, it’s just a reality that the bucks stop at the desk of the boss, and that until and unless he’s exonerated for Bridgegate he’s not suitable for a role in the Trump administration. This would be true of ANY supporter facing this kind of investigation. Trump was quite gracious to have him on the stage and acknowledge him in the victory speech.

To get away from the bridge story, Christie was making nice to Barack Obama in 2012 after the hurricane and right before the election.

That caused great upset in the grassroots and Trump even hit Christie on it in an early debate with Christie smacking back about ‘the people of New Jersey’.

In addition, Chris Christie signed a big tax increase of 23 cents a gallon for gas in NJ a few months ago.

I chose not to vote for my Republican governor here in PA after he did that in 2014.

Absolutely disinformation. He was listed as part of the OFFICIAL transition team along with Guliani, Newt, etc etc

That certainly has something to do with it.

It could also be that Christie has been suggesting RINO hacks, such
as Kelly Ayotte for WH jobs. And non loyal RINO hacks ain’t gonna
cut it in Trumps White House.

They would undermine him every step of the way.

It was reported on Fox that Trump is disgusted with Chris Christie because he left a soccer mom to take the rap on Bridgegate. Christie is out.

I'm not sure I can handle this. Right now I'm deep into "Good News Overload". This story could put me into "Good News Overload Plus", a potentially dangerous condition where you see the future so brightly that you risk optical damage.

I'm going to read this story later just to be safe.

On what planet do you think Levin has any sway whatsoever outside of his fanboys? He was completely wrong about Trump and was helping Hillary get elected.

I have always been suspicious of Christie.

But, that aside, there are over a quarter million people in this country. Even choosing the best of the best, there are plenty of competent people to utilize both for the transition team and the administration.

Bridgegate is a potentially damaging stain on Christie and thus on the new administration. It seems wise to not keep him in a visible position until that shakes out. He can always be brought in later - we have at least a four year run. As a politician, Christie of all people should see the prudence in this.

We cannot get sick of winning this soon. It hasn’t even been a week. You need to buck up and take it. ;)

Avoiding scandal at this juncture is a good political and business strategy. Christie isn’t completely out, but his role is diminished until the dust settles.

That's very true. And very good advice.

But every time I log onto FR I find myself crying. This is good crying, actually very good crying, if you know what I mean.

I'll get over it. Coffee helps a lot. And I'm just getting started with that. I'll be OK by this afternoon after watching and gloating over the Sunday Talk Shows.

Most here are clueless to the backstory . no way Jared and his family will forget what happened..so no way Christie gets a big position. Maybe smaller portion..if he is lucky...and the excuse will be bridgegate

trump is tasked oriented. he was failing at his duties so he was gotten rid of. I don’t think that crossties out but he probably wont be given a cabinet level position. my guess is that being in charge of the transition team was a test that Cristie failed at and trump will doing this with everyone he has supporting him where there are questions in his mind about competency or even the validity of the suport

Disinformation or not, I'm also fed up with the disloyalty shown by Chris Christie. He's really not that much different than the Clintons. He's only looking out for number one and does not seem to care about tossing underlings under the bus when it serves him. The right thing to have done in Bridge-gate was to accept responsibility and let the chips fall where they may. That's what a leader does. The fact that he would allow his staffers to get convicted and go to jail on his behalf makes him no different than Richard Nixon in the Watergate coverup or Bill Clinton in the Whitewater coverup.

When it appeared that Romney was going to lose in 2012, Chris Christie wasted no time in fully embracing (literally) Barack Obama. That pre-election image of Christie hugging Obama and practically holding hands with him on that beach like a little giddy schoolgirl was a kick in the stomach to Mitt Romney and will forever be burned in my brain.

Then don't forget about how Christie went wobbly on Trump in the wake of the Billy Bush tape brouhaha. Had Trump not held strong, there is no doubt that Christie would have rushed into the embrace of Crooked Hillary Clinton.

I'm also disappointed with the New Jersey results in Tuesday's election. A 13-point loss for Trump? Chris Christie does not seem to have lifted a finger to help Trump's prospects in his own state. Did Christie campaign at all for Trump in NJ? So on top of everything else, Christie has shown that he can't deliver.

Just an opportunist who is only looking out for himself. If Trump tosses him overboard, it would not bother me in the least.

Trump dodged a real bullet when he chose not to consider Christie as his running mate. Mike Pence has turned out to be perhaps Trump's best decision of the entire campaign.

I don’t know how much, if any, truth to this.

But good news if Trump isn’t gonna rely on Christie IMO. I don’t trust him either.

Trump initially counted on those in politics whom he had known for a long period of time—e.g., Christie and Trump tenant Manafort—but I think he now has more trustworthy relationships with better candidates for helping him to govern.

Trump will fire the jerk who made this statement in public... I would.
