In just two months, Keynes wrote the book that would make him a household name around the world — The Economic Consequences of the Peace.
After WWI, a particularly noxious set of treaties and economic reparations agreements were put in place that all but guaranteed a future WWII. Mr. Keynes sniffed that out and, sadly, was proven correct.

Am I the only guy that is less than impressed with this guy?
What do others think of him?
[ The rural folk with the Trump signs in their yards say their way of life is dying, ]
I can testify to that, big time. I’m one of the nearly 95 million who have felt the last 8 years like nothing ever before.
There’s an economic reality that’s going to come and since “printing money” is basically all they’ve done since 2008, it’s going to rock the world. He’s actually correct that it wouldn’t have mattered who got in.
As I’ve said before, though, I’d MUCH rather have Trump at the helm than Hillary. Trump actually cares about this country and the people who are Americans. That is a HUGE difference between Trump and the Obama/Hillary train-wreck.
Prepare as best you can friends. Keep those prayers going.
Give something to eat to a stranger. Donate some food if you have the ability. Pray. And Pray. And Pray without ceasing.
I consider the source.
Even a broken clock has time right time two times a day
Doom and gloom is inevitable, perhaps not just now, nor in the foreseeable future.
Caution is advised !
[Similarly, by failing to protect anyone but their cloistered and wealthy friends, the elites of both current US political parties has laid the fuel for the fire that now burns.]
One more comment for the moment: That’s why the extremely-wealthy are building bunkers. They know the day is approaching.
Shoot, even an underground community in Texas as reported on Drudge.
I don’t see any way to avoid default. We owe too much. Individually, collectively — it’s a sad, unfunny joke when we pretend that we’re going to pay it back. We aren’t going to. And so we should focus on figuring out how to default. Hint: Doing it sooner is better than doing it later.
SaveFerris, I want you to know that I am 65 years old.
Even as I turned barely a teenager, I was reading these types of predictions. The latest deadline was supposed to be the end of September. That was it. Nothing would be the same again.
It’s nearing the middle of November. Yawn.
Some day some guy will predict the end. Who would be able to tell? With so many predictions, it’s just plain pointless.
Let me tell you something. If Trump gets in there and reduces the nationals debt by a noticeable degree by 2020, all bets are off on the “going down the drain” prediction market.
He will have proven that over time we can do it. He will have done the heavy lifting. All we’ll have to do is mind our “P”s and “Q”s to pay the rest off.
I think he has to keep his eyes on things, but he is putting some of the best financial minds in the nation on this. He’s not going to fail us if it’s at all humanly possible.
God saw fit to allow him to become president due to our prayers. I don’t see why he wouldn’t allow him to turn things around if he puts his mind to it, and we continue to beseech Him to bless Trump.
We’ll see how it goes. That’s all we can ever do.
I don’t know how you prepare for the end.
If you stock up and are self-sufficient, you’ll be fighting hundreds of thousands of folks who want what you have.
If you save food, silver, gold, silver coins, gold coins, how are you going to spend it? You won’t be able to travel to or from places to buy things.
If you sell your home, the value of the money is zero. If you buy a new home and you make a go of it, everyone will fight you for it.
In the Bible there is a verse about taking care of yourself.
It reminds us that birds do not sew or reap, and yet God in his infinite wisdom as allowed for them to survive.
I think he will allow for His people to survive. If he doesn’t, we have a reward waiting for us in heaven if we live fairly decently.
Sounds like more “class baiting” to me. Americans do not think of themselves as the “underpriviliged”. This entire article is premised upon the dirt-worshipping material law of diminishing returns. He hasn’t got a clue about real Americans.
The author offers no hint of deficit offsetting, but the common person could provide them. And the potential is staggering. Re: the tax cuts -
Check my hypothesis: X number of people off welfare / unemployment due to rocking employment = savings. Add to that, said number of people off welfare / unemployment due to rocking employment paying taxes = more saving.
tally that in
If 95% of the bureaucracy and 95% of the regulation and business taxes were abolished along with an instituted progressive reduction in all welfare schemes with a termination-at-zero date we would likely have a short sharp depression and then take off wildly. The debt would turn out to be manageable. But that sort of thing will not happen. Drones and immigrants with no background of liberty or self sufficiency beyond subsistence economics all vote and it would take an all powerful dictator to make the necessary changes. But all powerful benevolent dictators don’t know when to retire. The only exception that I can think of is Pinochet of Chile. His deep religious nature allowed him to retire but it was late and only when the Pope told him it was past time.
That’s my take as well.
Some raised tariffs.
Much increased tax receipts.
Reduced amounts of government support paid out.
Increased money circulating in the United States causing still more people to be employed, and more tax receipts.
States, Counties, and townships all receiving more income.
More property taxes paid as people get back into homes.
If he can reduce that 500 billion we pay on welfare each year, that alone would save us a ton of money.
Those people would be working. They would be paying taxes instead.
I studied it and we’re talking about trillions per year if everyone is working and we’re paying out far less even for illegal aliens.
There is a lot of potential here.
These guys are so creative too. They know money management, and I’ll bet they come up with some ideas we’ll recognize as very very clever.
You keep coming up with these good ideas and I’m gonna have to report you to Donald.
LOL
He has folks that would embarrass me in moments.
He’s going to have some very qualified people in there.
Why they’ll all be at least almost as smart as Robert Reich.
LOL
I knew it was bad in 2005 - then I saw 2006-2007.
But I, as pessimistic as I can be about certain economic things, I still was surprised how just bad 2008 was. I had told people we were in big trouble; most shrugged it off.
When my company was being sold off in 2004 and we had a few months, I would have started prepping to sell my home earlier. I had always experienced things “working out” - God has sent me some amazing miracles but I’ve already seen some tough times. Like I never believed I would.
So, I try to caution folks - a lot of things you take for granted - a lot of that can fade quickly. Sounds trite - but I’ve already seen what some of the reality can be. Those who are experiencing it, and I’ve gotten a few replies and private messages - they were just as shocked.
That’s probably what it’s going to come down to.
We all were taken aback by what took place in 2008 and there-abouts.
First of all, we had our team in there who by rights should have addressed things early on. We had the clear majority to do it.
Our guy took a pass. I still can’t fathom how he could allow our system to crater like that without lifting a finger.
I don’t care if the Democrats did craft it, and I know they did. What did we do to stop them? NOTHING!
Bush deserves to be absolutely despised for his part in it, and that goes for our folks in Congress too.
By rights some of the Democrats should have been frog-stepped out and shot. Some judges should have also.
What they facilitated was practically the destruction of our nation.
Capitalism was terribly discredited although it hadn’t been allowed to work freely as it should have been.
The whole thing was a major blowout.
I honestly don’t think Trump would allow it.
If he saw it coming he’d take severe action up front to prevent it. He wouldn’t B.S. us either. We’d hear the straight scoop from him at some point.
It’s hard to do it once it’s inevitable because talking about it can cause panic and things to get worse.
I think we’ll be ok. You can never say that with absolute certainty.
He charges for this stuff?
I think we bought some time with Trump.
I’m sure the NWO folks that have been selling their various types of snake oil for 8 years are not happy. coughSoroscough
I am hoping we buy more than time with Trump.
I am hoping he’ll get his people positioned and let them create the magic.
It has been my prediction that this guy was a CEO that would have multi-layer management teams in place very quickly. That has been his management style, and he is a whiz at delegation.
Once he has the teams in there with direction, we’re going to see a frenzy of activity that will make Obama look like he was moving in slow motion.
I don’t think we’ll recognize the nation in six months, let alone 18. And four years, it will be incredible what he has done.
I may not like all of it, but his nation will be up and running all all cylinders.
