For Stephen Colbert, a Very Uncomfortable Election Night

There can be no disputing that the special, called partly “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale,” was unique, but surely not in the way the politically liberal Mr. Colbert, his guests or his audience had expected. With pre-election polls suggesting a Hillary Clinton victory, Mr. Colbert and his guests were buffeted throughout the broadcast by the growing realization that Donald J. Trump had won the presidency....

During a live conversation with Mr. Colbert, the journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin revealed that Mr. Trump had gone from underdog to front-runner...When Mr. Halperin said that Mr. Trump was “now on the doorstep of 270 electoral votes,” Mr. Colbert answered: “Wow. That’s a horrifying prospect. I can’t put a happy face on that, and that’s my job.” Mr. Halperin added, “Outside of the Civil War, World War II and including 9/11, this may be the most cataclysmic event the country’s ever seen.” ...

a panel discussion that followed — with Mr. Colbert, Mr. Heilemann, the radio host Charlamagne tha God and the stand-up comedian Jena Friedman — felt thoroughly uncomfortable. “Anything that you want to tell us about how you’re feeling right now?” Mr. Colbert asked Ms. Friedman. She answered, “I feel as if I’m about to give birth to a baby that’s already dead.”

“How did our politics get so poisonous?” he asked. Maybe we overdosed, he suggested. “We drank too much of the poison.”

Mr. Halperin added, “Outside of the Civil War, World War II and including 9/11, this may be the most cataclysmic event the country’s ever seen.”

Doesn’t he claim to be centrist?

Snowflake-in-Chief Stephen Colbert, Secretary of Angst Jon Stewart, Ambassador to the Soviet Union Van Jones, and the Secretary of Abject Hypocrisy Miley Cyrus, huddled in the Oval Uterus to consider their strategy in a world rapidly becoming real and normal.

Outside, independent blogger Nelson Muntz said “ha ha.”

“How did our politics get so poisonous?” he [Stephen Colbert] asked.

Perhaps you might look in the mirror on the occasion. Your shtick has been to ridicule and demean most of the non-LEFT. Your humor used to be somewhat gentle but it kept getting more cutting and cruel as you sank deeper into the despicable pool.

No. But this is one of the most asinine comments the country's ever seen, for sure.

Colbert, jon stewart libowicz, jon oliver, samantha bee, amy schumer et al are so consumed with both their hate and their self importance they failed to realize there is a real America out there. They just discovered that they aren't and never were part of that.

They call themselves comedians and humorists but in reality they are tools of disinformation designed to skew popular thought. Fortunately, their viewership is so small they never exercised the influence on public opinion their distorted egos thought they did.

Might be true for those in love with a Progressive authoritarian dream.

For those of us who love freedom and constitutional government, it is morning in America. The country has been pulled out of the jaws of Hell and saved.

That's strange. Why wouldn't this pro-abort be delighted?

I seldom watch Colbert’s night time show, but when I saw Triumph the Insult Comic dog would be on last night, plus I wanted to gloat over Colbert’s expected misery, I DVRed it.

Triumph, surprisingly, spent little of his derision on the left. He did piss on the front page of the NYT, but because of its headline declaring the Trump victory. He went on to say he hoped Trump would put the NYT out of business.

Colbert was in mourning. And so was his audience. It was wonderful.

My question is how long will it be before they cancel the show Madame Secretary, now that they don't need it anymore?

Are these people Leftists because they’re emotionally damaged to begin with? Or is it the Leftism that warps their minds and spirits?
