President Barack Obama has not ruled out pardoning Hillary Clinton before he leaves office in early January despite her not being charged with a crime.

"The president has offered clemency to a substantial number of Americans who were previously serving time in federal prisons," White House press secretary Josh Earnest responded Wednesday when asked by reporters.

Nixon was impeached.

Please cite the relevant statutes that say a President can pardon before Judaical conviction.

Does the Clinton Crime Family Foundation own any “vacation homes” in countries that have no extradition with the U.S.? Just wondering.

He better pardon himself.

Then, the House should impeach him for those very offenses. Those offenses are not pardonable. (See COTUS Art 2, Sect 2)

Is a decision by the US Supreme Court acceptable?

https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/71/333#writing-USSC_CR_0071_0333_ZO

...The Constitution provides that the President “shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.”

The power thus conferred is unlimited, with the exception stated.

It extends to every [federal] offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken or during their pendency or after conviction and judgment.

This power of the President is not subject to legislative control...

>>We’ve got a long tradition in this country of people in power not using the criminal justice system to exact political revenge

Hahahahahaha! Tell us another whopper, Josh.

Actually, the democrats only use the criminal justice system as a last resort. They prefer harassment by the IRS, EPA, FBI, etc. Or simple Arkancide if they’re in a big hurry.

Exactly. There are SO MANY to choose from.

Remember “trickle-down economics”? How about “trickle-down pardons”?

A presidential pardon need not specify charges. The precedent set by Ford’s pardon of Nixon pretty much set the standard. It was a blanket pardon for anything Nixon may or may not have done between the time Nixon took office until the time of his resignation.

Text: “Now, THEREFORE, I, GERALD R. FORD, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.”

Obama could do the same for Hillary. That would get her off the hook for an enormous amount of criminal liability. But the problem for Hillary is that a president’s power of pardon covers federal crimes only. Much more problematic for her is the fact that she’s, well, Hillary, and an Obama pardon won’t cover future crimes.

I think Obama will only consider giving Hillary a pardon if there is no possible way he himself could be implicated in any way of even having personal knowledge of the wrong doing on her part. I say this because his own insurance policy went out the window when she lost the election and therefore her own ability to issue him a pardon in return. I also believe he will be very careful about getting Trump’s hackles up in the next couple of months. I just can’t wait to see them on the platform together come inauguration day. In the meantime I expect he will be travelling and playing a lot of golf.

It is a legitimate question because of all the Leftist propaganda for years that the Ford pardon of Nixon was somehow illegitimate. It wasn’t, and the reasoning goes back to ‘original intent’ which Leftists don’t even want to acknowledge.

The citations in the text of the Nixon pardon stated that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt, and that’s a reason why conviction or even prosecution isn’t necessary.

(Hat tip to hlm3!)

Obumbler would have to pardon all the Foundations members or he risks one of them being prosecuted and dragging in anyone involved in the crime family foundation. Bill would have to be pardoned, Chelsea, Huma etc... to cover all the bases to someone being prosecuted.

That is ok. She will commit another crime in 3 weeks or less that could land her in prison. It is in her DNA.

If Obama pardons Clinton he is admitting she has broke the law. They continue to use that foundation for money laundering and after Obama is out of power new charges can be followed.

Is Obama going to pardon a non-profit corporation? Why can’t the money gained through criminal activity of the corporation’s officers be seized?

If Trump wants to investigate the emails and Hillary lies during the investigation would that be considered a crime for which she has not been pardoned? Could she then be sentenced?
