Despair over Clinton's loss prompts cry-in at Cornell; Play-Doh for the distraught
Dozens of students at Cornell University gathered on a major campus thoroughfare for a cry-in to mourn the results of the 2016 presidential election Wednesday, with school staff providing tissues and hot chocolate.
At Tufts University, arts and crafts were on offer. And the University of Kansas reminded students via social media of the therapy dogs available for comfort every other Wednesday.
Colleges nationwide scrambled to help students process Republican Donald Trumps stunning election victory. Theyre acknowledging that many students were up late watching results and so may not be at their sharpest in early-morning lectures. More so, theyre responding to a widespread sense of shock and despair on campuses to the victory of a candidate who offended Mexicans, Gold Star mothers, Muslims and the disabled during the course of the campaign.

My reaction exactly.

Pity the poor students who voted for Trump. They are the ones who are being ostracized, bullied and threatened on the cmpuses.
I can’t believe these people are the future of America.
Don’t you just love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning?
I never thought that my nerdy ass in college would actually be more macho than college kids 20 years later.
well alcohol and drugs lack of rest can cause depression...
and it has been said that liberalism is a mental disease...
These delicate snowflakes need to grow up. Sooner or later.
Were the students carrying their blankies and pacifiers? What a bunch of wussies. They disgrace earlier generations of people their age who hit the trenches of France, invaded Normandy, fought in a frozen Korea, trudged through the dangerous jungles of Vietnam, and risked their braves lives in the hot deserts of the Middle East. These pansies are a disgrace to America.
“I cant believe these people are the future of America.”
What I wonder, who were their parents? Did we rise that?
Seriously, I never voted for a Clinton or Obama. I never needed to cry, wring my hands, wet the bed or protest.
GET OVER IT. We won with widespread voter fraud. imagine what it would have looked like without the fraud.
A little fear and sadness focuses the mind.
If these Snowflakes don’t toughen up, they will never be able to handle an Irate Customer that got the Wrong Latte as they begin their careers at Starbucks.
NO TAX DOLLARS SHOULD BE SPENT for this BS in our colleges or high schools, on teachers and administrators who cannot control their students. If tax dollars are spent, this lack of resource stewardship should be addressed harshly. (If private institutions want to waste their resources on this, then that’s their stupid business).
Contrast this idiocy with the real trauma ahead for students in colleges in 1860, 1940, 1950, 1965, etc.. This silliness is the material for satire, not serious concern.
“And the University of Kansas reminded students via social media of the therapy dogs available for comfort every other Wednesday.”
The therapy dogs are mentally tougher (and probably smarter) than these emotional incontinents.
