A number of prominent Republicans who bashed Donald Trump during the election campaign have now come out in support of the President-elect.
Despite dozens within the party stating prior to election day that Trump was fit to be president, most of those critics seemingly fell in line behind their new leader on Wednesday.
Some of Trump's most vocal opponents were among the Republicans to publicly back him in the wake of his stunning triumph - including many who had been beaten to the presidential nomination by the Donald.

Ma Bush didn’t want Yebbie to run. Her half-hearted approval sounded more like when I finally give in to my daughters and tell them “Oh, I dont care- do whatever you want”
She knew her son was not up to it. Not that there was anything wrong with him, just that this was not his specialty. I have one daughter who is a great artist, another who is great at math. Neither one of them would be do well if they switched places.
Jeb was not presidential material. He lucked into governor of Florida but only because he brother was President. That was probably the limit of his competance.
And now he’s ruined the Bush Dynasty. Should have stuck to yur guns, Barbara- you knew.
Yes!
Have them over to kiss the ring.
But Oddjob is always in the room and at ready!
Get in line with all the other self serving beta boys.
The electoral college system is a good one but maybe it can be improved by apportioning EV's to individual congressional districts instead of statewide - as ME and NE already do. That would certainly have given a good chunk of CA and NY to Trump in that scenario. On the other hand, some of TX, FL and OH would have gone the other way. But in my mind it would be more representative of the electorate and Trump would probably have 350+ EVs easily.
Anyhow, even if Trump won 270-268 or 269-269 with the House being the tiebreaker, Trump is still our president, with all the power that goes with it. Just like the Cubs are still World Champions despite it taking them 7 games to get there. They are not being asked to share their championship with Cleveland because "it was close."
I learned a lot about Romney over the years, I truly detest him.
As far as Jeb, he’s stupid and low energy. I don’t see much malice in him.
Worthless punks. Did everything in their power to block and prevent Trump. Their mewlings are worthless and meaningless.
A pathetic attempt to stay relevant in the new political reality.
But he should never put them in positions of power, lest he discover that they are communicating with Podesta et al on the down low.
Some people don't give Trump enough credit. He made his fortune cutting deals with the New York City power brokers. Remember Obi Wan's quote about Mos Eisley space port? "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." That's what it's like working in New York City.
I think he'll do fine with the GOPe.
Ides of March: et tu Brute
Their elitist owners at the very top told them too (my guess)
Perhaps Yeb! should be name ‘US Special Envoy to Sinaloa’. Since the second largest number of LDS are in Brazil, Mutt can be named ‘US Special Envoy to Brazil’. AFA Shillery, perhaps the ‘Presidential Chief Investigator Into USP, Leavenworth’. (The latter position being an appointment for life.)
The Romney’s and Bushes need to crawl away.
Milt didn’t just not endorse him, he actively gave public speeches and worked to defeat him in the most callous way.
He should be persona non grata in the GOP.
Excellent description.
Go p*** up a rope, Jeb and Mitt.
Yeah, true.
But what do you call the candidate that wins the election by 1 EV?
Mr President.
Imagine the criticism if they would’ve stayed silent.
