Lou Dobbs calls out the House for a surprise vote for House Leadership next week in lame duck session.
Rep Collins says in interview with Dobbs that the Republicans called to 'get leadership elected starting Monday'.

“So who is the alternative candidate running against Ryan...?”
Correct. If the GOP tries to force an early vote, conservatives and common-sense moderates need to come together and have a strong candidate. I hope they realize how much their efforts are needed right now.
My guess is Ryan wants an early vote before solid opposition can be organized
Wouldn’t they realize that and organize as soon as possible? Hopefully, they wouldn’t just let Ryan have his way and think it too much trouble to get an opposing candidate.
This should become their main agenda if a vote is coming soon. Forget everything else for now.
Well sure.. but the election was just days ago. Maybe I have missed it.. but who is the conservative challenger to Ryan? Like herding cats. Need a unified opposition and I am not aware of anyone just yet. Hopefully things are happening in the background.
Lyin Ryan’s pamphlet has a typo....it should read “Obama’s Way”.
I am very opposed to paul Ryno anywhere near leadershp. He does not support the Wall, DEPORTATION,Tax cuts , shutting down common core. He is not the proper person to lead the presidents agenda. PERIOD!! Get Loui Gommert!!
Here is how I think this will go down:
“They” will put Ryan up for a vote
The Freedom Caucus will NOT vote for Ryan.
Ryan and Co. will have to decide if they want to rely on Dem votes to carry the day
Trump will call them out in this manner
Best to get it all on the table right from the start.
Representatives-elect get to vote. If a seat is not yet filled, that member does not vote.
Guess I was thinking those not newly-elected would be fairly established and organized already, enough to have strong relationships with other members like-minded. Surely, there is someone with leadership capabilities in the group!
As you said, hopefully things are being done as we speak.
The leadership is elected a week or two after the general election in mid-November. If a seat is still contested, that incoming member not yet chosen can’t participate, nor can the outgoing member. Representatives-elect do vote.
I have a hard time keeping up with who is in and who is out. So many Freepers change like a camillion.
Seems that I remember the same thing two years ago with Boehner and then they were pretty much locked in when a challenger came up in the new congress. We were stuck with Boehner until he resigned (and he named Ryan, who was not voted on).
My congressman got lots of flak about the second vote and he said that the challenger should have presented himself back in November.
You are exactly right. One would think an alternative to Ryan should be on the ready. But look what happened when boehner left. They practically begged Ryan to take over. In hindsight Boehner was better than Ryan IMO.
You mean Ryan, Obama’s buddy?
That same Ryan...the one who wants to take money from disabled veterans. That Paul Ryan.
This is the same sneaky sh*t that caused Trump to win. Paul Rhino needs to go.
If he resigned tomorrow it wouldn’t be soon enough for me.
Wish they’d replace McConnell as Senate leader also.
2010, once again.
no lameduck. no.
