It is an honor to stand here on this stage tonight after the two greatest candidates that the Libertarian Party has ever had!

Yeah, 3 to perhaps 6%? Fantastic. /sarcasm
3.2% overall, which is the best they have ever done. In 2012, they achieved 1%, which was only slightly less than their 1.1% in 1980.
Even Nader and the Green Party peaked at 2.7% in 2000. Only Ross Perot and Reform Party has achieved better contemporary results (18.9% in 1992, 8.4% in 1994).
Going back to 1980, John Anderson achieved 6.6%, and in 1968, George Wallace got 13.5%. Wallace is the only one that actually won electoral votes.
Reportedly, Johnson/Weld got 9.3% in Johnson's home state of New Mexico. That might be their record for a single state, but I wasn't able to confirm it quickly.
I plan to go back and look at the state-by-state results and determine which ones have more third-party votes than the margin of victory. It's already more than I thought (i.e > 0), but I'm surprised where it occurred, like Minnesota.
The Stupid is strong in this one.
Maybe next time try running a candidate who doesn’t go all wicked-witch-of-the-west-splashed-with-water when the words “illegal immigrant” are uttered.
Hmmm interesting. Thanks for that informative write up.
