FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers on Sunday Hillary Clinton would not face criminal charges over her handling of classified information following a re-opening of the investigation. However former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft cautions shes not been cleared of wrongdoing.
In other circumstances, it has been said that they did not recommend prosecuting her, but the clear finding of Director Comey was that the law had been violated. He just said the he didnt think it was appropriate to prosecute her and thats a prosecutorial discretion, he said during an interview on the FOX Business Networks Mornings with Maria.
Ashcroft questioned Comeys decision to make an announcement on Sunday afternoon and asserted a major cynicism within the justice community.
If youre supposed to believe that this is business as usual. Its not business as usual for announcements to be made on Sunday afternoon... Maybe this is mandated and required by the circumstances but I believe weve found ourselves in a situation where the people at the bottom of the social order in the United States dont believe the justice community can protect them and they believe that the people at the top of the social order are not subject to prosecution, he said.
The restoration and the construction of trust is always more difficult than the destruction of trust. You can burn a house down in 20 minutes that takes 20 years to build. So its a very important thing we have integrity in the system, he said.
With less than 24 hours before American voters head to the polling stations, Hillary Clinton held a 4-point lead over Donald Trump, according to the latest Fox News poll Opens a New Window.
If shes elected, we will have a very serious circumstance where a person who will be in charge of the precession, the President is ultimately in charge of the Justice Department, can hire and fire the Attorney General, hire and fire all the prosecutors in the country. [The] President also has the power to pardon people, he said.
That’s not Comey’s job.
No point in charging her when you damned well KNOW she’ll be getting a pardon on January 19.
PARDONMAGEDDON!!!!!
Headline of the Day Poll
Why won’t the FBI recommend charges over the Hillary emails?
There has been no crime committed
FBI Director Comey is a coward
FBI Director Comey is corrupt

FOX news is going to be very embarrassed on Nov.9th after Trump wins.
Maybe this was Comey’s strategy?
He knew a pardon would end it completely.
Obama pardoning Hitlery smears them both. There is a ton of upside for us from Obama pardoning Hitlery. The indictment alone has a ton of upside for us and downside for Democrats. It would hurt down-ticket Democrats dramatically.
They don’t think she will win. They are preparing RICO charges for the whole syndicate.
Comey will leave the FBI discarded the same way Dan Rather left CBS.
He is splitting hairs, trying to put a legal spin on this when we all know this is political. The truth is, FBI director James Comey told lawmakers the agency hasn’t changed it’s opinion and nothing in the email has warranted a new investigation. Of course we all know that’s a lie. But every headline says he cleared her. Even Drudge. What Comey did took the wind out of the Trump sails and we know it. It is false hope to say otherwise.
I'm hoping the real reason he punted was to protect the chance to go after Hillary after the new prez is installed. If he recommends indictment then zero will likely pardon her. If Trump wins and Comey waits until he appoints a new AG (Rudy?) then indictment is virtually certain. In either case Comey is unlikely to survive as FBI Director...maybe he's willing to live with that...so is it possible he's gonna take one for the team?
Just some speculation from my overstressed brain...this election is driving me out of my mind!
