On yesterday evening’s Hardball, an overwrought Andrew Sullivan stopped just short of chewing the scenery, while repeatedly referring to Donald Trump and Ann Coulter as fascists. But precisely because of Trump’s supposed fascist fear-mongering, Sullivan predicted that “Trump is going to win this election.”
Former New Republic editor Sullivan claimed that we are in a “fascist moment” because white Americans are reacting to the country becoming majority-minority. Calling Ann Coulter “the other fascist” along with Trump, Sullivan cited Ann’s book “Adios, America” as epitomizing the fear of the foreigner driving Trump’s support.

The justifiable fear is of enemy combatants in the war on terror, disease, drugs, gang members and violent criminals flowing into our communities with no expectation of assimilation.

A dear friend of ours (25 years) who self identifies as, well, you know... calls himself deplorable and irredeemable. Very interesting election.
Andrew Sullivan was among the intial ‘gay marriage’ conspirators.
He supported and participated in every effort to quash legal, duly passed, constitutional, democratic referenda via judge and venue shopping and, of course, supported Anthony Kennedy’s bizarre stream of consciousness rant posing as judicial opinion that imposed the unnatural and unwanted upon the masses.
He of all people is inherently unqualified to talk about fascism especially since he apprently has only an intermittent understanding of the concept and practice.

Donald Trump believes in a liberal (in the old fashioned sense), free-enterprise country that is not getting overrun by uninvited foreigners who spoil that vision. If individual citizens want to be generous to foreigners, let them do so with their own resources and that of volunteers. But don’t let them vote my resources to do it when I don’t want to.

Sullivan’s a Brit (and he went to Oxbridge) who has consistently been denied citizenship due to his HIV status. Unless that’s changed.

Seems to me, if he really believed that, he’d be cautious about calling them out. Need we remind him of the Clinton’s history of misusing FBI files and intimidation? Who is the fascist in this race, Andrew?
