WASHINGTON The Army said Friday it has determined that suicide was the cause of death of a two-star general who was found dead in his home on a military base in Alabama.
Maj. Gen. John Rossi was found dead July 31 at Redstone Arsenal, two days before he was to assume command of Army Space and Missile Defense Command.

There had better be a suicide note, and a comparison examination of handwriting.

What is generally said of this episode is that the Army found no link to substance abuse or to misconduct. He wasn’t linked to any investigation or complaint.
One story that is circling around the guy who spent 30-plus years in the Army....is that he felt overwhelmed by latest promotion and job assignment. Rather than just take retirement and go enjoy a casual lifestyle....he accepted the promotion and job....arrived at Redstone, and just fell apart within a short period of time.

Really? There has been a lot of problems in the upper brass lately. Seems like a conspiracy! Actually it looks like forced decisions to me!!!

Coincidences usually aren’t.
I don’t think somebody that reaches a 2 star general and is deemed fit to head the space and missile command to be one that just ‘checks’ out like that.

So far, no one has suggested ill health....neither the Army or his wife. If he had serious health concerns....I think he would not have accepted the new assignment and promotion.
I think in the end, this guy was simply someone who lucked out and found an open-door to promotions and more responsibility....then woke up one day to realize just how much job pressure existed and he wasn’t capable of accepting this.

There just isn’t a rational reason for a man to kill himself 2 days before pinning on his 3rd star
Rationality would be resigning and retiring
Depression isn’t rational

And his new job description / description sounds like that of the father-in-law of John O'Connor (Lt. General Robert Brewster) with Sky Net in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Strange....

Sure.
I wonder if he knew the Clintons.

Who has the “It was aliens” picture when you need it?
There has to got to be an amazingly juicy story behind this one.
Good luck finding out what it was.
