Attorney General told FBI director James Comey NOT to send letter to Congress about bureau reopening the investigation into Hillary's emails because it could influence the election outcome
Attorney General Loretta Lynch advised Comey against sending a letter to Congress about the FBI's reopened investigation into Clinton's emails She argued to Comey that he should follow the Justice Department's practice of not taking actions that could influence the election Attorney General Loretta Lynch advised and objected against FBI Director James Comey's move to send a letter to Congress to inform them about the reopening of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.
Lynch argued to Comey that he should follow the Justice Department's practice of not taking actions that could influence the outcome of a presidential election, The New Yorker reported on Saturday.
Comey broke from Lynch, who objected to the move along with the Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and independently sent the letter to Congress on Friday, dropping the bombshell about the restarted investigation based on newly discovered emails, rocking Clinton's campaign.
Comey's supporters argue that he had to break away from Lynch and act independently on the issue due to her compromising herself when she had an impromptu visit with former president Bill Clinton late into the investigation earlier this year. Comey broke away and sent a memo to bureau staffers explaining his decision to notify Congress He wrote that the FBI would not 'ordinarily' inform Congress about its ongoing investigations But said he noted he felt an 'obligation to' given that he testified repeatedly in recent months that bureau's investigation was completed On Friday, he sent a letter to eight Republican lawmakers regarding the reopened investigation - rocking Clinton's campaign

Saturday Night Massacre!
If policy is not to act to influence an election, the with holding of evidence would be such an act. If there is a situation in which two actions would be in violation of policy, then it would be most ethical to take the action which reveals, not conceals, the truth.
Comey’s underlings likely threatened leaks and assured him by their data crunchy that Clinton would not be his boss...instead, Trump would.
As in, not indicting actions which were/are clearly criminal.
Lynch is too stupid and dishonest to see that.
To her, whatever hurts the Obama Democrats is against policy.
Whatever hurts their opponents is The Right Thing To Do For The American People.
It is Saturday.
Lynch never technically recused herself. She merely said she would accept Comey’s recommendation whatever it was. She never relinquished her authority over this case or over the DOJ attorneys working the case.
Her attorneys at DOJ were working on a daily basis with the FBI agents working the case and she knew exactly what was going on at the FBI and what Comey was doing.
They put Comey out there as the public face of this farce after building him up as a man of integrity in the media, the Dems and the GOPe.
They knew the public would not buy it if Lynch and the Hillary fans at the DOJ stepped forward as the public face of the investigation, but in fact the DOJ corruptly protected Hillary every step of the way, behind the scenes while Man of Integrity Comey gave the interviews and spoke before Congress.
The ones complaining about him telling Congress are the ones insisting he act by political calculation instead of simply doing his job.
[Trump is going to have to build a LOT more Federal penitentiarys!]
Maybe he should order a light cleaning of Alcatraz and open it up for all criminal illegals invading our country.
Well, the leprechauns ain’t happy... I think the Dems see Trump presidency in the near future and would prefer lighter sentences and deals. IMO Weiner gave up a ton of info regarding Hillary and Huma. Not all if it voluntary.
But it’s not night.
Well what if he hadn’t released them, then after a Hillary victory this info comes out and he was found to have held information that would have affected the race.
That’s ok then?
This is a tough spot for Comey.
But he could have avoided all of this if he had filed the warranted charges in July.
When she thought the fix was in, Loretta Lynch recused herself from the case and stuck Comey with it. Now she wants to direct Comey. Can’t have it both ways.
Translation: there’s an internal rebellion afoot.
“Lynch cant hold up the levee forever.”
The dyke (sp/) may be about to burst!
If Congress had a nad between them, they would start wholesale impeachment proceedings Monday....on scores of key criminals in the current administration.
(drain that swamp)
That sure seems to be the case! Lots of spinning, and many directions this can take, not all of them harmful to Crooked's prospects, at least not as spun by the press lackeys.
Huge "distraction" (scare quotes for those who are invested in this sotry maturing into some sort of action or news squarely against Crooked) though, and Trump was getting very good traction on the policy issues points.
Caspar Weinberger was indicted just days before the 1992 election, and the liberals were OK with that. So the liberals clearly dont care when legal issues are happening relating to the time of an election.
