A federal jury on Thursday found Ammon Bundy, his brother Ryan Bundy and five co-defendants not guilty.......
"More than we could have hoped for," said one of Ammon Bundy's lawyers, J. Morgan Philpot......
Ammon Bundy, his hands clasped behind his back, nodded as the "not guilty" verdicts were read for him first. As he sat, he smiled and rubbed the shoulder of his lawyer, Marcus Mumford.
His older brother Ryan Bundy stood. As the "not guilty" verdicts were read, he nodded, and mouthed to the jury, "Thank you." Defendant Neil Wampler hugged and kissed his defense lawyer, Maxfield.
The coda to the stunning verdict, undoubtedly a significant blow to federal prosecutors, was when Ammon Bundy's lawyer Marcus Mumford argued that his client, dressed in a gray suit and white dress shirt, should be allowed to walk out of court, a free man.
U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown told him there was a U.S. Marshal's hold on him from a pending federal indictment in Nevada.
"If there's a detainer show me," Mumford stood, arguing before the judge.
Suddenly a group of about six U.S. Marshals surrounded Mumford at his defense table. The judge directed them to move back but moments later, the marshals grabbed on him.
"What are you doing?" Mumford yelled, as he struggled and was taken down to the floor.
As the deputy marshals yelled. "Stop resisting," the judge demanded, "Everybody out of the courtroom now!"
Mumford was taken into custody....
lawyer J. Morgan Philpot, said afterwards on the courthouse steps that Mumford had been arrested and marshals had used a stun gun, or Taser....
Philipot decried the marshals' treatment of Mumford in the courtroom. "What happened at the end is symbolic of the improper use of force by the federal government"....

You have to remember when the marshals captured an unarmed Eric Frein out in Pennsylvania, they beat him up, just to show that they could.
And that the Usual FR Suspects cheered it on...
Let’s have a “whoaaa Bundy!”
You make me sick, Moonman.
Your little snark failed to mention that the Feds have a long-standing habit of throwing the book at "defendants" who stand up to them in a jury trial.
The ones who "pled" probably weighed their chances of getting the whole sentence as government revenge versus a reduced "plea" sentence.
Interesting that a freeper appears to be applauding government behavior that would cause a Founding Father riot on the spot.

Like George Washington who took up arms against the Whiskey Rebellion while he was president?
Of course, you’re putting words into my mouth, while all I’m doing is stating the facts.
While you're stating PART of the facts.
I'm just reminding Freepers that they have to parse your posts like parsing a Clinton statement. Just offering my assistance, since I've been parsing Clintonese for nearly 20 years... ;-)
Of course, I don't have to tell Arthur - he's been looking at Clintonese for the same length of time. ;-)
And you’re free to add whatever facts you want without making it personal against me.
Got it?
Just noting your omission of standard FedThug trial tactics.
When someone posts Fedgov propaganda on FR, I feel the need to correct it. FedGov already has the MSM working for it and its Narrative.
There's plenty of people that share the "Bundys Are Guilty" Narrative on Twitter:

Check it out - you might like it over there better.
Got it? ;-)
I’ve been keeping a very *light* [infrequent] ping list all these years hoping to help smart guys like you network with each other. When this election is over it’s getting mothballed.
Oh well.
Back to the heart of the matter ... need legal eagles regarding this shocking incident.

Then the judge sides with the marshals? They should be in jail for contempt for starters, right? The judge presides over the court room.
Chiming in with you ...
If the other defendents had known that they stood a good chance of jury nullification [to nullify tyranny], they would have risked trial as well.
The only reason I hoped the forum would keep this issue tamped down was Machiavellian politics. Trump and Cruz were fiesty enough against the corrupt system as it was.
But with this new development, there’s a powerful force that the New GOP can tap into. Natural allies.
Just makes good sense.
Some justice delivered finally.
Now to deliver some justice to the murderers that ambushed and killed the dirt rancher and family man from Arizona.
Bring them in handcuffed and on their knees in front of his family. Make them bow to them before being executed in the snow.
An eye for an eye.
Just pick up the torch and come on we got work to do.
You are so right about Moonman.
Here is another sinister thing he posted ...
About-Face: Swedes Begin to Lose Faith in Multiculturalism

[How ‘evil’ of Moonman! He wants Swedes to mistrust their government’s love of muslims. My thoughts exactly, Moonman — well said.]
According to what others wrote, the justice was via jury nullifcation. The jury simply held the law in contempt as unconstitutional/unjust.
Works for me, FRiend. I’m all for brazen jury nullification against tyranny.
But that’s just half of the story.

So the defense attorney was arrested when he asked for a detainer. I assume they marshals had no detainer and were told by someone higher up to keep them behind bars by any means necessary.
Unless something was left out of the article the judge allowed his courtroom to be taken over by thuggery. And then rather than lock up the federal marshals for contempt and assault, he locked up their victim.

U.S. Marshals’ tackling of Ammon Bundy’s lawyer creates buzz in legal community

[I pointed out there that this article is more specific about why this is such an outrage.]
In the update ...
“The optics of tackling the lawyer who won the optics of that are unfortunate in any situation,” Leonetti [the judge] said.

[Uh, yeah. And the agents were acting in contempt.]
Uups, a professor. I can’t read thoroughly until off-line.
Sorry.
I am a good friend with a USM and he is retiring in a few days just because of this BS.
The USMS has been taken over by DHS and is not what it use to be along with our justice system.
My bud and I have had lots of discussions on this. He hates his job now and is ready to get out and join the 3%
