Okay Utah, time to get real - a vote for Evan McClinton is a vote for Hillary. Please don't!

This McNuthin or McMuffin guy is out to defeat Trump - which means to elect Hillary. That makes him Evan McClinton in my book. For me this is personal: Utah Republicans, please don't hurt my family by helping McClinton elect Hillary !

Utah has 6 electoral votes. Those electoral votes would matter in a tight election.

If either Trump (or God forbid, Hillary) is ahead by a substantial margin in the electoral college, then Utah and it’s 6 electoral votes will not matter at all.

Hillary gets the votes from the Democrats. Trump gets most of the Republican votes. Republicans who can't vote for Trump will vote for McMullin. Most of them won't vote for Clinton, but they'll understand that in effect, a vote for McMullin is a vote for Clinton.

I don't see McMullin getting anything like a majority. Congress doesn't hate or fear either candidate so much that they'd go with an unknown who almost nobody voted for. Most likely, the end result is Clinton winning.

The problem is, they vote by state, each state having one vote. There are more states with a majority of Republican representatives than states with a majority of Democrat representatives. If Hillary gets more popular votes and more electoral votes, there'll be a lot of pressure on those Republican reps to go along with Clinton.

I’m beginning to wonder if the Mormons’ teachings include vengeance. Because it is starting to look like it.

I think Elsie has an answer for that. In Mormon history there are numerous untold stories regarding revenge. Brigham Young had a vicious bodyguard named Porter Rockwell who was known to take care of business.

Maybe you could explain to your grandmother that G-d has used some fairly flawed, even evil, people for His purposes.

Here we have a man who is very morally flawed, yet who wants to:

1) preserve the First Amendment rights we all enjoy - ALL of them;

2) to revise our trade, tax and regulatory policies to let our economy provide more jobs for people (isn’t THAT the best form of charity);

3) to strengthen this nation (to make a war less likely - that seems like a pretty good thing to me); and

4) to make us less dependent upon foreign countries (including and especially Moslem ones, who finance terrorism) for our energy resources.

Again, he’s very flawed, very far from perfect. But these things are objectively GOOD...and the other person, the known thief and liar, is not interested in doing any of those things (quite the opposite, in fact). That other person is in favor of abortion, including late-term abortions where the baby could easily survive outside fo the womb.

Ask your grandmother if she’s thought about those things, and whether she wants to be partially responsible for allowing the likes of Hillary Clinton to have vast power and influence.

Just my $0.02.

“...they probably would vote for Evan McMullin as the next president of the United States”

No more certain means of guaranteeing vast civil unrest throughout the nation could be devised, short of the announcement of a complete confiscation of firearms.

I don’t know whose butt the Utah GOP pulls that from. McMuffin is a globalist Romney dropping.

If he is on the ballot there I am sure he will get votes especially if there is a check box with his name.

I am not sure if he will garner much in States where you have to write his name he is a bit of an unknown.

So I guess the Democrats need Utah.

And this isn't entirely unreasonable. Or, to put it another way: why should the nation accept McMullin as president, a man that almost no one voted for?

Said every one of things to her.

Even told her that I think we are in danger of becoming pharisees if we don't participate because we don't like our choices, as if God is unable to use a man like Trump. If God could use Paul, He could use Trump should He choose to do so.

I’m more worried about Nevada. They have a 4% Mormon population but are more politically active than the average person and seem to make up about 1/4th of the reliable Republican vote. Since Nevada is an extremely close state and not a reliable Republican winner, Any few percentage points lost from Trump could spell defeat.

Here’s why Utah doesn’t matter at all. The most any Democrat got there in modern times is 34% in 2008. There is no way Hillary gets that. And as long as she gets 33% or less, it doesn’t matter how the rest of the vote splits, either Trump or McMormon is going to win.

If Hillary gets 270, it doesn’t matter who wins Utah. If she is under 270, and losing Utah puts Trump under 270, then the vote goes to the House who won’t be picking Hillary and doubtful they’d pick McMormon either.

So, again, Utah doesn’t matter because there is no way Hillary will win it, therefore it can’t help her win the election.

How would there be any pressure for them to vote Hillary? Romney won 24 states with only 206 EVs. If Trump is close enough for it to go to the House, he will have over 25 states necessarily. If any one of those states votes against Trump, they’re defying the will of their own voters. All the pressure is on them to vote for Trump. Only a minority of states will have pressure to go Hillary.

This is a function of the fact that there are lots of low population red states, while the Dems win by winning more of the high population blue states.

They won't have to vote for Clinton. If Hillary wins more popular and more electoral votes, you'll see GOP reps in some states going for McMullin to split the Republican vote so Hillary wins the count in the House.

Probably that won't happen in many states. Maybe Pennsylvania, Arizona, Colorado -- if Trump carries those states, and the race goes before Congress, he may lose some votes there to McMullin.

I also notice that some states that Clinton may carry have Republican majorities in the House -- Michigan, Wisconsin. What those reps will do is also something to speculate about. And what about states whose delegations are equally split between parties, as New Hampshire's is now? They may not even figure in the voting.

No way do I see McMullin becoming president. Washington doesn't hate Hillary enough -- or even fear Trump enough -- to give the White House to somebody who hardly anybody voted for. But DC may fear Trump enough to see to it that Clinton gets the prize (without necessarily voting for Hillary themselves).

McMullin is a disgusting wannabe. I wouldn't doubt he was taking money from Clinton to split the vote. That would fit right in with her dirty tricks. If I could address the people supporting this fool, I would say something like, "Look, folks. There's 2 meager weeks to pull off a David/Goliath move, with Trump going up against not only Hillary's Dem devil machine, but virtually the entire media carrying her water for her. He is not my perfect candidate, but at least he believes in America and loves his country. He is not out to let every piece of international garbage into our country, to starve us by sucking down benefits they're not even entitled to, wholesale. He is not out to sell our uranium to our enemies. He is not out to give over $150 BILLION taxpayer dollars to our mortal enemies sworn to our destruction. He is not out to emasculate our military and tie their hands with ridiculous PC rules of engagement. He is not out to bring our health insurance system to a smoking ruin, nor spend our country into a fatal downward spiral of debt. He is not out to blow on the flames of racial strife where once there was very little. He will not consort secretly with our enemies and sell out our country.

Spots and all, that's good enough for me. If you play the purist who's above it all, you are in effect voting for Hillary and therefore the destruction of what's left of our country. If you vote for some puny Johnny-come-lately third party faux candidate, you are voting for Hillary. Suck it up and vote for someone who seems to have the good of our country and its people in mind, not the remodeling of it or the delivery of it to our enemies on a platter. Grow a brain, for cryin' out loud!"
