PASS IT ON=> Average 2017 Obamacare Premium Increases in Battleground States

Barack Obama and Democrats lied for years about how Obamacare would save you money and not affect your health care choices.

Obama famously told Americans, “You can keep your plan if you like your plan.” That was probably the most memorable line of his presidency – and it was a bald faced lie.

Obamacare was forced into law with 100% of the votes coming from Democratic lawmakers.

This week we learned premiums would increase an average of 22% this year.

Here are the average increase in premiums in battleground states.

-Ohio: 13.12% increase

-Florida: 17.40% increase

-Pennsylvania: 32.5% increase

-Nevada: 11.74% increase

-Maine: 21.24% increase

-New Hampshire: 12.44% increase

-Virginia: 21.68% increase

-North Carolina: 24.30% increase

-Iowa: 20.46% increase

-Michigan: 16.06% increase

-Wisconsin: 20.39% increase

Near the end of the show today, Hannity got a call from a woman who said she just got her family’s insurance renewal letter.

It went up $600 a month, from $1000 to $1600.

She said that determined her and her husband to vote for Trump.

Most people in this terrible system know this is coming and I expect this to be disastrous for Hillary. This could not have come at a worse time for her. This is the big October surprise that hits deep in the pocketbook.

What surprises me is that the administration did not wait until after the election to release the price increase. I thought for sure they would come up with some excuse to delay the announcement. If they are so arrogant and believe that it doesn’t matter they are in for a huge surprise. They are sorely mistaken and have completely underestimated the electorate.

Virginia ,wife and 1, goes from $930 to $1,090.If we had the subsidies looks like it would have gone from $131 to $290 on the premium.

That’s an important point — the effect of the subsidies.

I heard today that 85% of those who get Obamacare through the exchanges get subsidies.

So I figure, a lot of the Dem base is relatively unaffected by the premium increases.

So the people getting hurt were probably already for Trump.

But it must be worrisome for the Dem party, since Dem governor Mark Dayton held a press conference last week to bemoan the increases. I don’t think the Dems would talk about it unless they had to.

The TV commercials write themselves Mr. Trump. A little video of the Lying Communist in Chief. If you like your Ins.... $2500 saving per family blah blah blah. Roll the 2017 increases. Finish with the question do you really believe Hillary Clinton will fix this for anyone other than Insurance Company’s profits?

Did not think the insurance companies benefited much from Zerocare.

“Did not think the insurance companies benefited much from Zerocare”

They thought they would or never would have bought in. But my point is that she will bail them out before giving a fluck about Americans stuck with it.

The insurance companies lost big-time in the negotiations leading to Obamacare when the penalty was set too low to make people buy it.

At that point they knew they were screwed.

Question: When determining eligibility for subsidies, do they take into account just income, or income and assets?

Just income.

So, a married couple whose only household income is a social security check and a modest private pension, but they have some CDs and a somewhat substantial IRA (but will not start to take the RMD for a few more years), would qualify for a subsidy for health care?

Yes. Assets are irrelevant to get Obamacare subsidies (as long as it’s not through Medicaid).

Some welfare benefits do depend on assets as well as income, but that’s not the case for Obamacare subsidies.

However, if you go on Medicaid as part of Obamacare (in those states which expanded Medicaid under Obamacare), you may be subject to an asset test.

As I understand it!

Another thing though — to get the subsidy, you have to buy the insurance through an Obamacare exchange (either the federal one or a state one).

You also mentioned Social Security. I’d think you’d have to include that in the income test, but I don’t know.
