Foreign observers ratchet up presence at US poll sites, amid interference claims
Fox News ^ | October 25, 2016 | Fred Lucas

Amid claims from both presidential campaigns of election interference, an international agency is planning to dramatically expand the number of observers deployed to U.S. polling locations – though they’ve had to scale back their original game plan since some states won’t allow the foreign poll watchers.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, or OSCE, originally announced it would send 100 long-term election observers “to follow the electoral process countrywide” and 400 short-term observers “to follow election day proceedings.” The 500 observers would mark a tenfold increase from 2012, when the group had just 44 observers in the United States. The OSCE is better known for sending observers into countries where democracy seems shaky, such as Ukraine.

The move comes as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has warned about a “rigged” election, and called for his supporters to act as citizen election observers as well. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and Obama administration officials, have said the Russian government is attempting to influence the U.S. election.

The OSCE says it has made its deployment decision independent of this year’s campaign rhetoric. Further, the OSCE has had to reduce its planned observer force in recent weeks – given that a dozen states prohibit international observers, while seven states and the District of Columbia explicitly allow them. Most other states allow counties to make interpretations.

Sounds like many counties rule - If these foreign busy bodies show up in your county - call the sheriff.

In my town they would be arrested for trespassing in any precinct voting site they would try to enter.

Here are the phone numbers (for each state) to report election fraud:

Same. I'm registered a poll watcher on election day, and we have specific instructions to call the sheriff if anyone is seen mulling around the polling station. Last election we had a woman who refused to stay behind the media line outside the polling place, and the sheriff came and removed her. They mean business with this election.

There are 1 to 2 police stationed at every polling place so any shenanigans would be quickly stopped.

I don’t understand why foreign observers would not be a good idea.

After all, when we liberated Iraq, we had tons of observers there during their election.

The more busy bodies standing around watching, the less shenanigans can go on.

Where ? In all my years I have never seen a policeman/woman at the polling place, unless they were voting.

“I don’t understand why foreign observers would not be a good idea. After all, when we liberated Iraq, we had tons of observers there during their election.”

Because the countries observing have ZERO interest in America being anything like it has historically been. American elections are NOT the business of the rest of the world.
Say for example Trump wins. The foreign observers hate Trump and this is beyond debate. So they file reports about how he did not win a fair and free election and start all kinds of mischief.
America has everything to lose and zero to gain from having foreigners watch our elections.

As for us watching Iraq, that’s a fine example. Invaders do monitor their conquered nations governmental processes. Are there any other areas of our government where you think foreigners should be allowed access to monitor us.

Bottom line, a monitor is standing above you. NO foreigner should stand above an American voter.

Iraq also required photo ID and inked the finger of voters ...
Both of which would be good ideas here.

As an election officer in Virginia, I can tell you that such observers would be violating the law in this state. State law provides for one authorized representative from each party to sit behind each election officer that has a copy of the poll book. That is part of each party's "get out the vote" efforts. Anyone else who hangs around inside the polling place will be asked politely to leave. Non-compliance is a Class I misdemeanor. If anyone else wants to, they can be present when that precinct confirms the vote count - but (1) the person has to be there before the polling place closes and must sign in as being there for that purpose, (2) no cell phones during the count (to prevent reporting of partial totals), and (3) the person cannot leave until all of the counting is complete (security). A person may take a cell phone photo of the final count at the precinct.

Anyone with more detailed questions can PM me.
