Conspiracy charge 'stretches reality.' (JURY STARTS DELIBERATIONS TODAY-OREGON STANDOFF TRIAL)

How the Oregon standoff ended--with a Japanese American man from Ohio holed up in a shelter at the edge of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge with a gun to his head in the midst of a mental health crisis--was almost as improbable as the charge leveled against that man, David Fry, his lawyer told jurors....

"To call it a conspiracy is simply a very poor and inaccurate way of describing what went on here," defense lawyer Per C. Olson said......

he considered the occupation an "MLK-type-sit-in" and wasn't interested in any violence, the lawyer said...

After Finicum's shooting, Fry was filled with paranoia that the FBI was going to come in and attack...that his friend Finicum had been "murdered" in a barbaric manner.....Olson said "Mr. Fry has many things he needs to work on."...."He's simply not a man of intimidation and threats,"......

(Ryan) Bundy told jurors that they may not share his beliefs or background, but they do share...the importance of having a jury of peers decide his fate.

He said the "unjust circumstances" surrounding the return to federal prison in January of Harney County ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and son Steven Hammond, coupled with chronic federal mismanagement of public lands "necessitated that someone stand up and engage in a nonviolent, direct protest."....

Quoting civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr., Bundy reminded jurors that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."....the "fair-minded men and women" who visited the refuge during the occupation realized it was a peaceful, safe place to exchange ideas.....

(Shawna) Cox's lawyer, Tiffany Harris, said.... the government's account of outsiders coming into Harney County to spread problems is an inaccurate portrayal...

"The problem was already there," Harris said. Ammon Bundy and his supporters just shined light on it.....

The jury begins deliberations this morning in Oregon Standoff case after closing arguments from the defense and rebuttal from the prosecution yesterday.

Strong arguments were given in court yesterday pointing out the absurdity of the federal government's accusations against the defendants.

Word from the trial is that at one point yesterday the courtroom was cleared while visitors were searched for "contraband".

The "contraband" causing all the commotion, Skittles.

Thanks for posting. The Feds in gooberment are just totally out of control. This is pure attempt to conflate peaceful domestic protest with the threat of essentially government sponsored Jihad in America.

I believe we have live recordings of the final moments before he gave himself up ... I think it was Franklin Graham that thought to record the phone call(s).

The phone link into the last hours of the FBI siege went through a man named Gavin Seim.

Seim gained a big following with 40-thousand plus likes now on his Facebook page.

Gav is linking to videos from people who are witnessing the trial along with the Bundy Ranch Facebook page.

“He tried to read and show a slide of a portion of the U.S. Constitution, but the judge stopped him” LOL, the Constitution is inadmissable? Really?

I think we know what side of the political spectrum this judge falls on.

Yep that happened, and the judge is still a judge this morning. How in the world can a judge deem the constitution inadmissable?!

Pretty much shows what is wrong with this country doesnt it? Can you imagine what the founding fathers would think of the constitution not being admissable in any circumstance.

I believe that Lavoy Finicum was ambushed and murdered.

Lavoy Finicum

That is what I believe.

Prayers for those on trial.

The laws have not applied to those in charge for some time now.

"Merely associating or helping an alleged conspirator isn't enough to prove the crime. The government must prove that a defendant became a member of the conspiracy knowing its object and "specifically intending'' to further that object -- preventing workers through force, intimidation or threat from carrying out their official duties. "Specifically intending" is defined in the instructions as having "purpose or conscious desire'' to further the conspiracy's objective."

Watch Cankles use this as part of her defense for breaking the U.S. Government. Also in the Project Veritas cases that are coming up. Liberals caught colluding to deny Americans their 1st Amendment rights thru illegal activity but of course just like with Cankle's e-mails, there was no intent.

I am sure plenty of intent will be found in Oregon but none in D.C. or Little Rock.

You are right. His pursuit and murder were unnecessary. The “stand-off” could have been ended by proper authority at any time at the refuge camp.

It has been all legally justified by law enforcement initiating deadly force before identifying themselves and causing him to flee in the only available predetermined path to an ambush set up by design to leave no chance of escape and (almost) sufficiently covered up by the OSP and FBI on the ground.

The government was ruled by fear in its response to the protest.

Did they overreact with violence like Bull Connor did in Birmingham, AL in 1963?

I think so with deadly consequences for LaVoy Finicum.

The Oath Keeper-III Percent types who showed up at the protest were in some cases government informants and other cases crazy.

The federal government and their local lackeys presented a narrative of fear while many local people supported the protest and knew its leaders were peaceful and gentle people.

Regarding all the ‘plants’, we only know three of the names of the 15 FBI informants who provided information, nine of whom actually came to the protest.
