The Republican Speaker of the House is more widely disliked among the Republican base than he is among the Democratic one. Lest theres any doubt whats causing this, heres what YouGov got when they asked people if Republican leaders were right or wrong to withdraw their support from Trump after the tape was released. Ryan actually hasnt withdrawn his endorsement of Trump, but his phone call operated as a license to members of his caucus to withdraw their own if they felt it would help them politically.
By a five-to-one margin, Republican voters dislike watching the rest of the party run away from Trump even though the point of doing that is to protect Republican congressional majorities as a potential check on Clinton. What Ryans experiencing now in his crumbling popularity on the right is a taste of what Ted Cruz experienced at the convention after he declined to endorse Trump in his speech, except Ryans acting in the interests of his caucus instead of his own national ambitions. Theres another complicating factor in the reaction too: Republican voters simply arent that troubled by the Access Hollywood tape that caused Ryan to kinda sorta cut Trump loose. Just 14 percent told YouGov they were bothered a lot by it and only 21 percent thought Trump has actually done the things he talks about on it. (Bear in mind, this poll was conducted from October 15-18, days after the sexual assault allegations started dropping.) When asked if it was mere locker room talk or something more, Republicans split 62/14.
More Republicans said the tape made them more likely to vote for Trump than less likely. Mmmm, thats some spicy partisanship! But note the independent numbers, particularly the 20 percent who said it made them much less likely to vote for Trump.

The part posted here almost sounds like a support piece for Ryan. It lofts a good excuse for Ryan to bail on Trump. Of course we’d like to see Trump have a chance to implement his policies. Ryan might be interested in that too, if he were one with us. I don’t think he is.
We have to have Trump, the House, and the Senate if we want to get anything done.
Please Lord...
Paul you are doing a good job of making John boehner look good.
Trump needs over 500 congress critters with his view point...and ZERO more Paul Ryan’s and company!
‘Never thought wed have a Speaker worse than Boehner.
And we do.’
That is so true. Leave it to the GOPe to respond to our detestation of Boehner by hitting us in the face with someone even worse.
This is why Ryan started magically campaigning against Hillary but not FOR Trump. He felt this heat, guaranteed.
Hence Cruzs minor turn back to Trump and the base.
May be enough for me to vote for him this time. MAY BE.
Cruz’s idea of “fighting” to defeat Hillary is sending TWO anti-Hillary tweets a day. That’s it. With a “fighter” like that is it any wonder the GOP is the Dems doormat?
Interesting that the dimoKKKRAT base thinks higher of Paul Ryan than the Republican base does. That says a lot.
If you look at the big never Trumpers on twitter like Ana Navarro most of the comments are by Democrats. They are being used and they know it. They obviously don’t care.
Fire his ass and send him back home to get an honest job... maybe at a tire shop. And let him grow old in it, and someday say "I was speakuh of da house!! I coulda been somebody!!"
Lyin’ Ted Cruz, the puppet of Goldman-Sucks, can never again be trusted.
Never!

That would be because dirt bag “Allahpundit” is violently never Trump. Have a look at his twitter and have a bucket handy. LOL.
“Any polls on how hes doing? The speaker usually is in a safe district.”
Tell that to Tom Foley.
He should have been fired a couple years ago. I found it exceptionally frustrating that punk Ryan happily and willingly forwarded Obammys budget with nary a note. He was a major participant and front man along with butch McConnell in the obammy cabal.
Boo-Yah!
That is all?
Paul Ryan was a a lousy VP candidate, period. He’s now a do-nothing “I’m-Not-Sure-if-I-want-the-Job” Speaker of the House. He is jealous of Mr. Trump’s popularity, insanely jealous. He deserves the wrath of voters who believed in him and supported him.
I know! I know!
Mistype!!!
I corrected immediately in a subsequent post!! (Blushing)

He wants to be Hillary’s bitch.
Lyin Ryan. If Trump is elected he and O’Connell must be replaced. There is no making any progress with either of these two clowns left in leadership positions.
That is one congressional seat that could truly be sacrificed for the betterment of America.
