Peter Thiel may be attracted to men, but a prominent LGBT magazine says he’s “not a gay man” because he supports Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
In a rambling article for The Advocate, Connecticut College history professor Jim Downs posits that there is more to being gay “than just having sex with someone of the same gender.”
Mr. Downs argues the Silicon Valley billionaire reaffirmed his personal “sexual choices” by supporting Mr. Trump, but separated himself from the broader “gay identity” rooted in class struggle against oppression.
“By the logic of gay liberation, Thiel is an example of a man who has sex with other men, but not a gay man,” Mr. Downs wrote. “Because he does not embrace the struggle of people to embrace their distinctive identity.”
Mr. Downs also accuses Mr. Thiel of supporting a platform that is “actually dangerous to LGBT people,” pointing to Republican-backed laws allowing religious bakers to refuse to make wedding cakes for same-sex couples....

Actually, they make a salient point. "Gay" is primarily, if not completely, a political term. Just like "black" only has meaning in a cultural/political context.

Like the Old Testament saying Israelis must worship God and flee or die for worshiping anything else, to be a real member of X, Y and Z tribes like homosexual, woman, black, you must be Democrat.
And if you aren’t Democrat but a member of that ethnicity, it is akin to being a Muslim apostate - worse than an unbeliever but as of yet without the murders.
Thus a homosexual who isn’t Democrat can be called not really homosexual, because their definition of homosexual requires being Democrat, too. I’ve been told I’m not really a woman because I’m not a liberal feminist.
The identity politics is done to easily and readily divide society into competing factions, while tying identity to political ideology results in social pressure to keep people in ideological conformity in a way intellectual positions won’t be reinforced.

The whole gay thing is one area where I do not expect Trump to pursue a “conservative agenda.” I expect “states’ rights” to be about as far as he would go.
That’s okay. Not everything is the President’s job.
What gay activists ought to be afraid of is Democrats who will use “gay rights” as a weapon with which to shut down churches, church-related charities, etc. They have already shut down Catholic adoption agencies, Christian-owned businesses, etc. There is far more likely to be a backlash against extremist Democrats than against non-extreme versions of “gay rights.”
Gay activists ought to be concerned about the Muslim conquest of the U.S. They aren’t. Instead, they have hitched their wagon to the pro-abortion socialists.

BTW, I know a gay guy voting for Trump. We’re not good friends but if he’s out with a bunch of us, it doesn’t bother me as long as there’s no gay talk or actions.
